Nearly half of all American voters believe President Barack Obama does not deserve a second term, according to a new poll released Monday.
In a Quinnipiac University survey of registered voters, 49 percent said Obama does not deserve to be re-elected, as opposed to the 43 percent who said he does — a total that includes only 35 percent support for a second term among independents.

If the election were held today, the poll found former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney with a 1-percentage-point lead over Obama, 45 to 44 percent, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee trailing the president by only 2 points. 46 to 44 percent — both totals within the poll’s margin of error.
