Rolling Stone: Rand Paul is Losing His Own Flame War

Hillary Clinton would rather Trump gets the nomination, because he's a damned sight easier to beat.

Trump is improving against Hillary. Look at the trend:

Clinton + 5% over Trump 8/13
Clinton +12% over Trump 7/28
Clinton +16% over Trump 7/28
Clinton +16% over Trump 7/25
Clinton +13% over Trump 7/21
Clinton +17% over Trump 7/12
Clinton +24% over Trump 6/28
Clinton +17% over Trump 6/23
Clinton +18% over Trump 5/26

Trump is improving against Hillary. Look at the trend:

Oh, gee.

Only another seventeen years of gains like that until the general election might even be too close to call between them.

Whereas Rand Paul could kick her fat, pantsuited ass tomorrow.

What a brilliant tradeoff for Republicans to make.

Where is Rand getting a billion dollars?

To be honest, both of them could beat Hillary. The key is energizing the non-Hillary vote. Rand can beat her based on his voting record and positions being soundly conservative. The right (including cultural right or moderate Democratic voters) would be energized to turn out to vote, unlike the last two cycles where they stayed home rather than vote for milquetoast moderates. Result: Rand wins.

Trump can beat her by laughing off her War on Women rhetoric, just as handily as he bested Megyn Kelly (who actually had an advantage over Hillary, namely being more attractive). Remember, Trump's secret sauce is his ability to not back down before bullies, by bullying back and staying in (entertaining) attack mode. The base likes this form of backbone (warts and all), so combined with his ability to spend the megabucks at crunch time, his approach will energize GOP voters, leading to her defeat.
