Just read this on the "Minnesota Independent" website:

Here’s a behind-the-scenes postscript about the lengths to which the planners of the Republican National Convention went to ensure the appearance of a discord-free GOP: They tried to scuttle Ron Paul’s counter-convention across the river in Minneapolis and the next night’s Rage Against the Machine concert as well.
Speaking on background, well-placed sources at City Hall and Target Center have confirmed to MnIndy that in the days before Ron Paul’s Rally for the Republic at Target Center was publicly announced, representatives of the RNC Host Committee contacted officials at Target Center and the city of Minneapolis (which oversees the facility) to push for the cancellation of the event. They also sought the cancellation of the Rage Against the Machine concert that took place at Target Center on September 3, the third night of the RNC.
This seems consistent with the RNC's obsession with perpetuating their national convention as an unadulterated McCain lovefest.

Let's take this party over and turn the next presidential Republican convention into a Rally for the Republic!:p

Sorry, just added link above

I doubt that...if the RNC wanted to do that, they would have been successful...Target Center would have had to obey.

Maybe a few morons from the RNC wanted to do that, but they didn't have enough clout to pull it off.

If I was mayor I would have cancelled the RNC

event after that request. What scumbags.

Venues will cancel when requested to do so by people in the right places. It surprises me more that Target Center didn't cancel than it does that the RNC tried to get them to cancel.

This is the same RNC that guaranteed "the sky's the limit" on law enforcement defense.

Well, when you try to use muscle for something like this, if you go past 'influence' and sick Cherthoff on someone you're risking a lot more bad press than they're getting right now.

The lawyers for C4L foresaw this and made the contract airtight.

And people wonder why Paul didn't endorse McCain, besides watching his deleagtes be treated like prisoners in McCain's Gulag

So True....

So here's the NEW PROBLEM with government at ALL LEVELS:

which leads to:

The Republicrats use TAXPAYER money to hold a Boon Doggle EVENTS
The Republicrats us TAXPAYER money for security at their Boon Doggle events
The Republicrats us TAXPAYER money to purchase insurance for the illegal conducts they commit at Boon Doggle EVENTS.
The Republicrats INHIBIT/CANCEL/ARREST (falsely)/REMOVE events Illegally @ all levels...
The Republicrats are sued for ILLEGALLY violating your freedoms and rights...
The Republicrats appointed Political Judges, which favor government and LIMITS your reward to next to nothing

The Republicrats always WIN, it costs them nothing... it costs you and the TAXPAYERS, they abuse both ends!

They will be doing the same on the protests when George DUBYA Bush leaves office on Jan 20, 2009 and has his final drive past the people. Protesters will be arrested/withheld as not to conduct, stage, rally protests and image damaging confrontations with government in Washington DC. This happened in 2004 and I think the protesters that were arrested and withheld for nothing received like $500 in damage compensations. "WORTHLESS"

Wash, Rinse, Repeat!

I'm glad the Mayor of Minneapolis had the balls to stand up to the Republicans. He might have thought that Ventura would throw him a beating if he messed with the Rally.
