This weekend, the RNC, via Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster offered a "compromise"... take a look:

1. A majority of the delegates sign a statement agreeing that, if Ron Paul is not on the ballot, they will vote at the Convention for Mitt Romney.

2. Instead of Brent Tweed, Charlie Webster or Paul LePage would serve as the spokesperson for the delegation and announce the votes cast for president. That spokesperson would also handle all media on behalf of the Maine delegation.

3. There will be nothing negative said about Mitt Romney or positive said about Obama (especially to media).

4. The Delegation will be admitted to the Convention, and to all committee assignments, without barrier.

5. The Contest brought by Jan Staples and Peter Cianchette will be withdrawn.

hold tight.

None of those requirements are in the rules.

How can they project what the credentials committee will find? Are they just a rubber stamp or something? /sarcasm

Wow...the RNC must be absolutely scared shitless to resort to this.

Compromise? We don't need no stinckin' compromise. Can you not tell where my hand is, senor? You don't want me to squeeeze :D

the delegation head is the only one who gives the votes that is an absolute NO imho and saying you'll vote for Romney if Ron is off the ballot begs the question of how could Ron be off the ballot since he has more than 5 states -- unless credentials committee cheats.

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

I've told you for months about the GOP establishment's efforts to control the Republican National Convention... here is more unbelievable proof of how far they are willing to go.

more here...... http://www.fox19.com/story/19218317/maine-ron-paul-supporters-creds-being-challenged-by-cianchette

HEADS UP.....

Tonight at 10:00 PM, Reality Check is going to break down all the details of this as well as two unrelated efforts to block Gov. Romney from receiving the Republican nomination.

Needs hard evidence of this "compromise". Official email? Written letter? Video?
Actually, sounds like the party is going to the contract angle, instead of affidavits like in Mass. So what are the penalties for breaking the contract?

At the end of the day, Webster can't make anyone do anything. What's to prevent Maine delegates from agreeing and then completely forgetting the compromise when they get on the convention floor? I guess the question really is how much risk are the Maine (and other states for that matter) delegates willing to accept to not be snookered by the party. It's not like Webster will pull a gun on his delegation and hold them hostage for their votes. Lots of scare tactics but not much meat behind them.

edit: Oops just noticed the "No Deal" pdf by the Paul folks at the link. So they've already told Webster to piss off with this "compromise". Definitely need to get this info for Gilbert to add to the lawsuit.

The RNC has showed their true colors, they are liars, cheaters, and use violence and intimidation against people to try to get their way. You can't work with such people. Ron Paul desperately needs to expose the RNC for what it is and run third party.

My question: Is the official campaign even giving you Maine delegates any support? Financially, legally, or just plain old advice?

At what point does all this turn violent? I'm planning on going to Tampa to be there for support but I've got kids and really don't care to get shot.

Quote for truth. Sad state of things is if you do exercise your rights you have to worry about being abused by law enforcement.
