Riverside cops befriend special needs students, then trick them into buying pot

This story is so fucked up on so many levels that I doubt even Hitler would have done this to a special needs Jewish teenager. Maybe that should be a meme: a picture of Hitler with a caption something along the lines of, "That's just wrong!"

"Disapproval Hitler" meme...yeah, that could work.

I was reminded of this post, on the subject of cops showing up at Virginia family home, to inform them a relative had been killed, and they, the cops, shoot the family dog.

Screwtape Wept

My Dear Wormwood,

As discussed in my last letter, your patient’s decision to join the police department seemed a mixed development at best. It is true that Hell follows no law save the most ancient, “Eat or be eaten.” But as a general rule we want to discourage the creatures from obeying any laws, even of their own devising. Despite the best efforts of our most fiendish disputants, we in the Lowerarchy are unable, as yet, to remove from their laws all that reeks of the Enemy, such as justice, temperance, chastity, and respect for their fellow vermin. Still, we have made great strides in this age toward bending those who enforce the laws, such as your patient, to the commendable vices of cruelty, corruption, graft, influence-peddling, and the forsaking of oaths. So I did not discourage your patient’s occupation, as long as he could be steered onto a path which would eventually bring him to Our Father’s House.

Until I received this report from our colleague Skrimcheez, who is in charge of the local newspaper editor: Henrico police shoot pet as they notify family of son’s homicide. As you can see, the report is lavishly illustrated, and spares no detail. It appears that your patient, while performing his mundane duty of notifying one of the humans that her child had been murdered, discharged his weapon into the child’s dog. Your patient claimed to have done so out of fear (no doubt of your urging) that the animal posed a threat to the patient’s safety. I have carefully read the report, and it raises several questions regarding your care of the patient.

The first of which is: ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FUCKING MIND? What kind of FUCKING LUNATIC would shoot the GOD-DAMNED FAMILY DOG as he was approaching the GOD-DAMNED FAMILY HOME to notify them that THEIR SON HAD BEEN MURDERED? YOU ASSHOLE! Hell is TOO GOOD for this son of a bitch! I thought I was cruel! I thought I was merciless, but YOU…

(Here the manuscript breaks off, and is resumed in another hand.)

In my rage and fury at reading of your despicable patient’s exploits, I find that I have transformed into a vampire bat. My secretary shall compose the remainder of this letter under my dictation.

There are some things, Wormwood, that are too vile even for us. Admittedly, before today, I could not have named one of those things. But shooting the family dog, on the way to notifying the family that its son has been found murdered in the street, is such a thing. Hell has majesty, Wormwood. Even the foulest fiend in the most abysmal of our pits would not sink to such a depth.

Rest assured, Wormwood, that your patient has found his place in Our Father’s House. Indeed he shall be most welcome here. We shall make a sport of him, a plaything, a feast to be savoured slowly with all the cruelty our tormentors can devise. And yet, for all of the anguish that shall be his, for eternity and more, his torment will only barely exceed what he has brought upon this family.

Common murderers are, as the Americans put it, a dime a dozen. It takes a special cruelty, one I would call beyond diabolical if there could be such a thing, to kill the family dog before notifying the family of a death.

Your disgusted uncle,

Screwtape.

(Signed in his abysmal excellency’s disability by his secretary, Toadpipe, B.S.M., D.T.)

100% disgusted by this. 100% not surprised. Very saddening and a complete waste of taxpayer money.

On the plus side, it seems no dogs were harmed in this operation which is quite amazing.

If someone took my money and gave me a glass of arsenic and said that's what my money bought, I wouldn't drink it even if I had paid for it.

Reading this crap makes me want to drink that glass of arsenic.

Repeal the narcotics act and deplorable instances like this would be a thing of the past.

Au contraire, mon ami.

They would find a new pretext upon which to mount and justify such action. This is NEVER going to end until something extrinsic ends it.

These are the most dangerous people in the world and they need to be euthanized as one would a rabid racoon.

Unless you're a Holocaust denier, you seriously need to read the Hiding Place. I don't even think we should have gotten involved in WWII and this is still clearly not true as far as I see it. Hitler would have done far worse.

Mind you, we're becomming like the Nazis in to many respects, but I don't think Hitler would have any compassion on a Jew who went through this.

I don't think he was serious.

OK, I legitimately have someone defending the police on TOL. Ugh... I'm finding I can't find words strong enough in the English language to tell him how pathetic and unworthy of the space that he takes up that he is.

BTW: This person also regularly calls libertarians "Pedophiles" so he's definitely not just ignorant.

Here was the post and my response:

And I still don't feel like my outrage has been adequetely expressed. Wow. I've literally never felt like this before. Normally I can find something in English that gets it:p

We caused WWII by being involved in WWI, which was simply a European boundary spat, and then making the Germans pay for the whole blinking war with the Treaty of Versailles. Without that, WWII would never have happened.

And, The Hiding Place is excellent.

Oh come on,this is beyond infuriating.I hope there is a hell so these THINGS will rot there forever.I can't imagine doing this to someone .Like the poor kid doesn't have enough problems, fuckin heartless

Joseph McCarthy wouldn't have done this to Karl Marx.

https://reason.com/blog/2015/11/07/autistic-student-sues-school-district-ov

Since being arrested nearly three years ago for buying a half of a joint of pot for an undercover police officer, Jesse Snodgrass and his parents have been waging a legal and public relations battle with the Temecula Valley Unified School District (TVUSD) in Riverside County, California. They sued the school district for its involvement in the undercover drug sting, and claim that Jesse, an autistic and special needs student, was unjustly targeted.

Judge Raquel A. Marquez. dismissed Jesse's case on October 30, 2015, citing that there was no evidence that TVUSD knowingly targeted Jesse. Read the judge's full remarks here.

The Snodgrass' released this statement in response, asserting that they will appeal the decision:

The plaintiffs in this case feel extremely disappointed and perplexed that the judge did NOT allow this matter to be decided by a jury, adding that there existed triable issues of material fact as to Michael Hubbard’s - TVUSD dir. of Child Welfare and Attendance - involvement with the operation and whether he targeted Jesse, among other triable issues. They feel that the judge WEIGHED the evidence which is not the court's role on Summary Judgment and justified the ruling based on "police cooperation and discretionary immunities" that the plaintiffs continue to assert do NOT apply. According to the plaintiffs, there did exist several inconsistencies in the decision and they plan to appeal.

I'll put this here too:

really worth the watch if you have 24 minutes to spare. this needs to go viral, share it with others as much as you can.
