Rise of the "HomoCon"

I think it would be incredibly naive to think that with the extreme level kids today are exposed to sexuality in public that it is not becoming more common. Hell in a lot of places you are an outcast for not taking part.

I think it is incredibly naive to believe this has not occurred since the dawn of man.

It was not long ago that children were considered adults at puberty, that would be early teens.

Why do these people have to wear their perversion on their sleeve?

What does it say about us when we are so accepting of homosexuality but demand that 911 truthers stay in the closet?....think about that one!

Our problems as a nation run much deeper than a lack of understanding about Austrian Economics. ..The real cancer is moral degradation....Adultery, promiscuity, acceptance of homosexuality, illegitimacy etc.

While I could care less whether GOProud was at CPAC, you do have a point when it comes to truthers being told to "stay in the closet". The one reason why I haven't started a "Young Americans For Liberty" chapter at my university is that I'm still incensed that they put "If you are a 9/11 truther, don't apply" on one of there volunteer forms. Yeah I've heard the lame excuses. "9/11 truth is political poison". Well what do people think gay rights is in a REPUBLICAN primary? I really don't get it. I never met a single person who said they wouldn't vote for Ron Paul over the 9/11 truth issue. I did meet someone who said they would not vote for Ron Paul because the mistakenly thought he supported gay marriage. I corrected that person on this issue. Ron Paul said he supported the defense of marriage act and that he would go further and pass a law stripping the U.S. supreme court of power to hear challenges to that act.

Really. Are we going to "play politics" or not? If people speaking for this movement are going to push gay rights even though that is not popular among conservative republicans and may cost votes, then don't complain about some 9/11 truther having on a t-shirt or posting his opinion on a web forum. Make up your mind folks.

Mass media promoting recreational sexuality? A continent-wide country full of federally funded schools promoting recreational sexuality? This has happened before? People spending hours a day watching TV that promotes recreational sexuality? That has happened before?

PDA is a totally different matter from what sofia was putting forth. I'm in agreement that people being inappropriate in front of kids is a hetero AND homosexual problem which needs to be addressed in some form (though obviously not legally in most cases).

However, read back over sofia's post about what's causing the "breakdown" of society, and realize you are apples and oranges.

It's incredibly naive to think that this is the way forward to winning a republican primary. But hey, if we're going to throw caution to the wind, bring on the truthers!

I don't get why the "recreational" part is thrown in there so often.

I can't have kids. I should die a virgin?

I'm still waiting for those that condemn it to claim on here that they have never had sex out of wedlock and if not married are still virgins. Until then I will simply assume they are hipocrits.

Unfortunately what is considered to be inappropriate in public company is acceptable on TV or on a billboard. It's not even PDA I have a problem with because that would imply real people showing real affection, what I am talking about is mass media clowns acting it out in front of everyone. Apples and oranges maybe yeah, I am not endorsing what Sofia says just sharing my own thoughts.

It's "recreational" because it feels good.

You know, like being pounded in the face with a boxing glove, or thrown to the mat in a wrestling match.

the comments from some of you young people on this forum underscore EXACTLY what I'm talkin about..

You have all been so corrupted by modern society that you can't even see it. Moral standards that were in place for THOUSANDS OF YEARS before you were even born were only overturned in the past 40 years.

These mores existed for a reason. They served as the basis for the formation of stable families and stable communities.

You fools who scoff at what has happened to our society really think that all we need is Austrian Economics and everything will be ok?

Look around.....half the damn country is medicated or addicted to booze, drugs etc. All trying to fill the emptiness inside...an emptiness caused by a dgenerate society that thinks "happiness" is to be found in material things and easy sex instead of faith in a higher power, stable relationships and traditional families.

50% divorce.....young people who never marry or have kids.....herpes, AIDS, screwed up emotional development, abortions, perversions, depression......

How's that sexual revolution thingey workin out for ya?

I agree with Max here.

I don't think any morals should be forced on anyone...but we do need to steer our society back to a moral high ground that breeds strong families.

Please, no, maybe I am not saying this well. I really don't care what people do among themselves. You could even say I have recreational sex though I don't enjoy it much, it is more of a release valve so to say.

What I have a problem with is how it is promoted, ultimately it is a form of propaganda, I don't like propaganda.

What I have a much bigger problem with, is how I have to pay for government schools promote it at an age and place that I consider to be completely inappropriate and harmful towards becoming a successful adult.

What I have the biggest problem with, is how I can't even afford to send a kid to a school I would want, still have to pay for other people to send their kids to schools I don't like, and am left frustrated and not even wanting kids anymore.

That seems distinctly like it's up to the breeders (to deal with their children). The rest of us just need to keep private matters private, which some people do have a problem with. That said, if you can't let your child see grown people holding hands, or explain to them that some women dress like skanks because they are really low on self esteem and don't have anything better to offer... you might need to move :>

People should be free to steer their lives and families how they see fit, yet we are forced to pay for propaganda that steers towards a certain direction.

Then you need to cure the problem not the symptom. Public schools are bad and we need to move education into the private realm where competition gives us a better product.

In this thread you may feel like you are on the defensive but in society people who don't particularly like casual sex are on the defensive, called gay, laughed at, etc.

People are asking others to come clean about how if they are against casual sex are the a virgin? Certainly if they live true to their beliefs they should be?

The thing is being a virgin is a mark of shame now, it is the new scarlet letter, why would they would to say that?

Of course people should be free to steer their lives how they want. I;m not saying any type of coercion should be used to bring about a moral society.

Most people are followers. Most people shape their actions based on the opinion of others. If more people were standing up and saying divorce is unacceptable in all but the most extreme situations, then others would be less likely to get a divorce because they wouldn't want their community to have a negative opinion of them.

I can certainly identify with parts of that, though I would argue that "sex education" has some place in higher level anatomy/science classes. The mechanics of it are certainly important from a physiological standpoint, and the advent of birth control, etc., could be explored from a history/social studies standpoint. Mind you, I am not talking about condoms on bananas for fifth graders... that was awkward for all of us.

I agree that people are out of hand in some ways, or at very least hypocritical. Programs on television generally try to reserve "excessive nudity" for certain hours of programming. However, it's perfectly reasonable to pass a billboard with two people pressed up against one another in their skivvies, giving you a "come hither" stare. Somehow that seems very odd to me. I don't see Dora the Explorer coming on randomly at 3am on Skinemax... so why do I see random naked or nearly-naked people on billboards in plain sight? It's a little odd.

As for the PDA I mentioned... maybe it's just this area, but people are giving pretty explicit anatomy lessons out in public, in daylight, and it's very obvious they're doing it to be seen. I even saw one guy do the "honk honk" to his ladyfriend in front of an ice cream store (there were maybe a dozen kids at a table outside watching; they were at a birthday party... the parents were trying to hurry the kids inside). There's a lot of it going around. People seem to kiss and fondle to advertise "look at us! look here!" rather than because they're really enjoying one another's company.
