What was the term that was popular on the left for this type of "diffuse targeting"? They were accusing the right of doing this many years ago, such as when Rep. Gabby Giffords was shot?

It's occult (spiritual mafia), it has no political affiliation.

Sadly, too many political operators/commentators are trapped in the devil's greatest trick (believing the devil does not exist), so they are flying completely blind. I don't think ANYTHING is obvious here... To be honest, at this point, I'm baffled trying to narrow anything down based on the evidence we've seen.

The shell casing messages could be directed at Kirk - they could be directed at law enforcement - they might just be trolling messages for the media.

If he wanted to send a message, he wasn't very clear. Maybe it makes sense to someone he personally knows?

I am personally not confused by the messaging on the cartridges. The pattern is pretty simple and consistent -- "I am not offended by these things that offend you, so I'm going to throw them in your face... along with a bullet... but you'll be too dead to be offended."
