It would be even more logical for Newt to drop out instead of Santorum. The same people like Drudge have been carrying Romney's water and fear the potential brokered convention.

What will become increasingly obvious if Santorum and Gingrich drop out (and the conversation turns to the general election) is whether the true conservatives will support Romney and to what degree. This will turn the spotlight onto Ron Paul and his followers. It will not help the Republican Party "unify." It will only help underscore the REAL fissure in the party and highlight Mitten's impotence. And crystalize the political clout of Ron Paul.

I'm willing to bet several thousand dollars that if Santorum and Gingrich drop out that Romney will just waltz through the rest of the nomination without any problem. I highly doubt that people will turn to Dr. Paul as the 'not-Romney'; they haven't before, so why would they now?

This. The media has already set it up. They have already NOT been mentioning Paul, and basically calling it now a two man race. Even when they mentioned there were four candidates left last week on my local "news" update, they failed to mention RP by name...he was the only one they didn't mention by name.

It's Romney trolling the boards! I knew it. LOL

I don't think it is the media that keeping Dr. Paul from being the 'non-Romney'. A lot of people just aren't libertarian.

Drudge has this article as "Pressure mounts on Santorum to drop"

It seems the forces have decided to end this farce and finally "unite" the GOP under Romney.

Good. Romney winning = LEGIT WIN for Dr. Paul (since he's the only one who helped him and has done more for Romney than anyone, Chris Christie included). I have no doubts that Romney will "concede" to Ron's demands in order to win his (and our) support.

I honestly don't understand why more of us are happy about this??

Our job between now and the convention should be to win Ron the strongest "hand" possible so that Romney can have cover to give Ron his due.

Not what I meant. Sorry..I was vague. Of course Romney will coast to the nomination. What I meant was that when the spotlight turns to just Romney his vulnerability will really become front and center. And the Paul supporters will be a stark example of the division in the GOP. What I meant was Paul will finally be taken seriously by all who dismissed him as "fringe." Paul will be the most likely personification of the deep divide.

Nope.

Never will be either.

People want what they have wanted throughout human history.

To be fed, entertained and to exercise petty power over their fellow man.

Whole dynasties and empires, lasting centuries, have been built by clever people that know how to use and exploit those base human wants.

Well, we'll see. If Santorum and Gingrich drop out I think everyone will turn their focus to the general election. I think the 'deep divide' in the GOP is between people who aren't interested in social issues and those who are, rather than libertarians and everyone else.

Haha, I reject being called a 'troll'. I'm not a Ron Paul supporter, but a troll wouldn't admit that straight up- he'd simply pretend to be a supporter while actively trolling everyone. I just say what I believe.

Ivash - he was making a joke about you betting thousands of dollars like mitt romney did in a debate, feel free to speak your mind there are no thought crimes here. :D

Ah, just busting your balls on the bet for thousands of dollars.

No no, I understood the joke (the 'haha' was supposed to show that). I sometimes wonder if people here think I'm a troll or not for disagree with them on, well, a lot of issues, so that post was kind of in response to people who do think that.

Exactly. And nonstop analysis of Romney's weaknesses and his lack of conservative credentials.

I think the 'deep divide' in the GOP is between people who aren't interested in social issues and those who are, rather than libertarians and everyone else.

But both of those groups will come together like sheep for Romney. The libertarian faction will not.

Just wondering if you have hacked my computer, and know the current video I have in the works?
