WASHINGTON — Republican presidential frontrunner Rick Perry rejoined his attack on the Federal Reserve Thursday, saying he would not reappoint chairman Ben Bernanke if elected to the Oval Office.

Perry, the current governor of Texas, launched a scathing attack on the former Princeton economics professor, accusing him of boosting the risk of rampant inflation.

In an interview with the CNBC financial news channel, Perry was asked whether he would reappoint Bernanke, whom he has vociferously criticized over the Fed’s efforts to boost economic growth.

As jlaker already pointed out, Bernanke is not the head of the beast.

He's more of a replaceable shield that absorbs flak.

Has anyone noticed Rick Perry never said the Fed should be abolished? He said Ben Bernanke was treasonous (ok, "almost") but he has never actually said he wants to abolish the fed. Of course, even if he did, I know he would be lying, but this is just too obvious, at least for those of us who know anything about it. He doesn't think our monetary system is flawed. He doesn't think the Fed is a problem. He is just playing the game by hating on Bernanke, saying we need new "leadership." Of course, there's nothing wrong with the actual policy.

Just as I suspected, Rick Perry is playing up to the Tea Party crowd, but his tea party cred is so lacking it's incredible. It's literally inCREDible.
