Rick Perry Rick Perry site to take out Ron Paul site

Last time this thread got deleted because it seemed like an ad for this site, I think. Something about a 2 million rank thing, I didn't understand, maybe it was also in the wrong forum; which is my fault for not understanding these forums too well.

But either way, a Ron Paul site I visit quite often is going to be taken down/abandoned in less than 2 weeks. Essentially, they put two sites: Perry and Paul, for the most popular conservative candidate. The site with the most traffic will result in the company putting out more ads for the leading candidate. Unfortunately, Paul's site has very little membership/traffic, while Perry's site is growing extremely rapidly. My friend works for the site, and said they can't keep it open if it has no traffic; and they will continue to promote Perry's page.

I'm not trying to spam, but I don't want to see a Ron Paul page go down in favor of Rick Perry. If you want to register, submit anything/comment, or participate in their straw poll/delegate counts, the site is fanbuff.com/ronpaul (they also have a pretty good collection of quotes about Ron Paul that I really like.)

I hope this doesn't sound spam-y, but it kills me to see Rick Perry beat out Paul on a site I use. I just don't believe he's already growing this kind of support before making an announcement. It's ridiculous.

Perry has no sites. So if people care about him (before they find out about him) it makes sense they might go to the one that exists. Ron, on the other hand, has many many many sites on the web, so people already have patterns and habits of where they go. I don't know what site you are talking about, which would help. But to be honest if a site is put up by someone who is even vaguely wondering who is better, Ron or Perry, that sounds kind of hopeless.

Why don't you hang around here?

I'm new to this site, but what you said makes definite sense. People are probably settled into certain sites by now.

The whole forum layout is a little new for me I suppose, though. It's hard for me to navigate, but I can try getting used to it. I've been on the dailypaul and I like how simple the front page is, but it sometimes seems cluttered and confuses me as well; I never actually use their forum due to it's clutter-appearance. I mainly liked the fanbuff.com/ronpaul site because of it's organization/easy navigation.

I guess some of the old-schoolers just need to get used to newer ways, haha.

I checked it out. Looks like Ron Paul 101. Might be a good site to send potential supporters to. It is very straight forward and easy to digest. IMHO, not all new supporters are ready for the Forums.

LOL!

You sound like me. I lurked at the Daily Paul during the election but only came here directly to a specific thread if it showed up on google and didn't know how to go to others. There is now a home page that has some stuff people think is key, but it isn't everything you want. clicking 'new posts' gives you more. There are literally forums on this site I've never visited, but that's ok, it could still happen...

Ron Paul 2012 is divided into a bunch of subforums where Ron Paul Grassroots Central is sort of the home page of that section (but important to all stuff may go to General Politics which isn't in the Ron Paul 2012 section, and is down below all the states for Ron Paul 2012). Specific projects that are big enough have their own subforum so if you are interested in those you also check there (Ames, the Florida Presidency 5 straw poll, debates, etc.) Opposing candidates you have found, and if you click in the list on one of the candidates the entries for just that candidate will line up (pretty cool.) But there are some posts for 'general' meaning more than one candidate, and if you really need to find something, you might want to check there, too.

Other subsections are relatively self explanatory, and you can either explore or go into them through new posts as you learn the place. Other than Ron Paul Grassroots Central, I'd say 'General Politics' is probably the other 'main place' people congregate, but some people spend almost all their time in philosophy or hard money sections.

Navigation

I literally didn't know when I first joined that to navigate to a different thread you look up for kind of tool bars, one above and one under the Ron Paul Forums logo saying:

Log Out
Control Panel & Settings --this is where you send and get messages and change your avatar/signature etc (left column) - you can also check who has liked/hated what you posted in your reputation file

My Profile - kinda obvious

Notifications - you got mail!!

Welcome, sailingaway (I get this, you don't)

Below the logo

Home -- the 'front page' to the forums
Liberty Forums -- click this for your index to the various forums
Chat Room [8] -- this is chat, I'm still getting used to chat, but if you've done it somewhere and liked it, it is better here :p
Blogs -- write one!
Calendar --sporadically kept up at the moment, there is a 'key dates' post at the top of Ron Paul Grassroots forum
New Posts -- if you go here you will see all the current conversations so you can see what's going on across forums, right now.

See you around!

OK, went to the other site and you are right it is simple, and gives a taste of Ron, kinda like one of those sample spoons at the ice cream places.... It is a nice variety, but there isn't nearly as much there. It could be built, and maybe will be, but it isn't there yet. I was at the DP first for a while, but when I got caught up in projects or issues it is easier for me to follow and find the ones I'm interested in, here. But try them all.

For me, I'd cut out the word 'fan' everywhere it appears on that page (except the first mention which makes it clear it isn't the official site), because I find that word ...... I don't know, demeaning. You think of 'fans' as mindless groupies. But I'm old school.

Thanks for the walkthrough SailingAway! That should help me a bit when working my way through most of the things.

And now that I think of it, you all are exactly right. It is a good straight-forward introductory style site for those who aren't quite ready to dive into it all.

I still hope it doesn't get abandoned, but I don't have much say in that. I will send a comment to the support team though, because I agree with Sailing, maybe it's an old-school thing, but I don't like the word fan either.
