This is fantastic news. Is it me or is this whole Ron Paul thing like something out of a movie. We're always on the edge, barely making it, fighting and scrapping to get the truth out. A small breakthrough, then a setback. Then another breakthrough, just when we were losing hope. I got dibs on playing Benton in the movie!

I don't think I'd have it any other way. If we just sailed along we would give up on committing massive amounts of effort. The struggle moves us on.

Yeah, this is going to go down in history as one of those nation changing campaigns. It is really rather odd how this is playing out.

So true, it could end up being one of those American political realignments you read about in the history books. But ya, this is as life should be.

Guys you didn't read the article. This is a national poll with all voters from across party lines. In many republican caucuses/primaries they are closed to Republicans only, and the one's that are open don't actually attract as many Dems who would change party on the spot compared to those that answered the phone to answer in the interview.

This news is energizing!!!

That's gotta make Ron smile, and I like it when Ron smiles.

As a bonus, it might cause Newt to furrow his brow, which I like as well.

Go Ron Paul 2012!

Minnesota are you listening???

It still makes good copy and a good headline. Lots of people will see the info without analyzing it and be swayed by it. You'd be amazed by how many people will not consider someone that is not polling high enough even if they agree with their views. The more people think that he can win, the more people will vote for him.

WRONG.

You are the one who didn't read. First line of article: "Romney was backed by 29 percent of Republican voters..."

Note the word, Republican.

Reuters polled Democrats, but didn't ask them about primary preference. They had other questions, like Obama favoribility. This is standard procedure.
This was a poll of likely republicans.

FANTASTIC NEWS!! Getting past the establishment's traditional and expensive firewalls of IA, NH, SC and FL has thinned the field enough for Paul to start getting more attention. The media's blackout has been backfiring for some time, although capable of short term bursts of success (e.g., mugging Paul out of victory in Iowa). The irony has always been that, the less coverage the MSM gives the primary race (now that they think Romney has it in the bag), the more Paul can thrive, because the intensity of his ground game continues unabated, while toned down media coverage is leading to lower turnout in the contests (fewer Mittbots, Newtbots and Rickbots to compete with).

Thus the campaign is going to be using the media's own momentum against them to make gains from this time on, and the MSM is caught in our trap. If they lower coverage of the race or continue with the 'Romney has it wrapped up' meme, the more they depress the Romney vote, so Paul racks up more delegates and (eventually) primary victories. If they increase coverage, they will give Paul more visibility (or their blackout draws more attention to Paul regardless), resulting in more converts to Paul as they hear his message. The only exception to this will be expensive big states and markets, where Romney's money for ad purposes will give him an edge. Most of the contests are caucus or small states where Paul will be piling up delegates. The future looks good.

I've always thought that RP gains support faster when there are no debates. He's the only one who has grassroots spreading the message nonstop. We build it back up when the media tries to rip it down. It appears that we're gaining and gaining. 2 steps forward & 1 step back. Keep walking people. We'll get there.

Your post reminds me of the famous Chris Rock sketch on progress in America. Ron Paul supporters are our own worst enemies (and even the man himself when he doesn't phrase things the right way), but the media certainly doesn't help!

Exactly. At this late stage (really, still early in the primaries, but let's call it late by the MSM narrative) and three victories later, Romney STILL has a 30% ceiling among Republicans. No amount of media fidgeting can disguise he is not energizing, and will not be energizing, 70% of the party to vote for him. He's a sure loser in the election, whether Paul runs 3rd party or not. This provides fodder for a credible alternative to be the anti-Romney in the upcoming primaries.
