Paul said it was irresponsible of Giuliani and other leaders to not examine the motivations of al Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups.

A Giuliani spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment.

Among the books on Paul's reading list were: "Dying to Win," which argues that suicide bombers only mobilize against an occupying force; "Blowback," which examines the unintended consequences of U.S. foreign policy; and the 9/11 Commission Report, which says that Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was angered by the presence of U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia.

Another book on the list was "Imperial Hubris," whose author appeared at the press conference to offer support for Paul.

"Foreign policy is about protecting America," said author Michael Scheuer, who used to head the CIA's bin Laden unit. "Our foreign policy is doing the opposite."

Absolutely nice find! I swear, if Giuliani wins (which looks very unlikely at this point) it will be like Bush number 3 in office. Giuliani is anti-civil liberties (as most the GoP candidates are) and he is pro war. If he wins, we'll likely be stuck in this quagmire for 4 more years.

The important part is... are conservatives waking up? Are Republicans realizing that their party has been hijacked by modern communists?

I'm not happy with just Democrats, independents and libertarians backing up Ron Paul. Sure, every little bit helps, but we need the Republican base most of all to win the primary.

I really think these directed reponses to Rudy are hurting RP's campaign. His main appeal to a lot of people is that he isn't your usual politian. If he appears to attack or defend against a certain candidate, it doesn't help that image any.

Gee, I see it as Ron Paul fighting his way from second tier into the first tier if only in the media arena. People want a fighter who is scrappy, comes from behind. Bill Clinton in his 92 election, remember the "War Room." They learned quickly, no attack goes unanswered. He's gaining visibility. And with it comes detractors and devotees. It's all good.

He has to go after them one by one, and reveal to the american public what frauds they are. First, Guiliani, obviously because Guiliani "started" it. I agree that he can't just get attacked and do nothing. He is going on the offensive and I think it's a good move. He's managed to stay in the press with this little stunt after the buzz has begun to die post the last debate. Name recognition is so, so key - and he is milking this for all it's worth. Good on him! Don't let up!

I absolutely had the same feeling when I read this. I think it's time to let the Rudy thing go.

Are you thinking the media hacks who ask questions at the debate will be more or less likely to ask Dr. Paul a ? on foreign policy after this?

My thinking is that they (media hacks) have learned how well he (Dr. Paul) knows foreign policy and so won't try again on that subject.

Yes, please. I have some GOP friends who are semi-libertarian but are still somewhat brainwashed on the war. They're pi$$ed off about immigration, and so I work on them there. Most of the major candidates, including the unannounced FT, are anywhere from not very good on immigration to worse than Bush.

So let's talk immigration.

I suspect global warming will be the issue most likely to confront Dr. Paul. He needs to figure out a way to better explain his position, or at least defer the question somewhat. It's hard to do in 60 seconds, but the fact is that popular science is, right now, almost unanimously supporting the theory. It looks like Republican rhetoric to simply state "I can show you just as many experts...." when he probably can't.

Tossing this back into the laps of the states, using them as a chance to let 50 different solutions develop sounds, at least to me, like the answer. There's no reason to that think that the solution that works best in Anchorage will also work just as well in Alabama.

I concur with your assessment. Repubs arent as interested in the environment as Dems though. But the environment is an issue that will be debated. Ron should confront this issue head on. Lead the pack even as doing so will reward the respect of the America people. I say bring it up if they dont.. challenge party members. DU in Iraq for instance.. who allowed that? why?

Yup. And this isn't mud slinging, in the traditional political sense. RP isn't dgging up dirt - he's demonstrating for people that the fairy tale "they're Evil" version of events is whacko.

The segment may be called "educating rudy", but it's really about "educating republican primary voters". He's handing them ammunition and a great visual that uses humor to ridicule the neocon party line.

He should make three points on environment:

1. The government pollutes the most.

2. We still don't completely know all the facts about global warming.

3. It is each property owner's responsibility to not emit chemicals that may harm citizens, they would be held liable for their actions.
