Report: Trump ’95 Percent’ Likely to Tap Mike Pence as VP (wtf??)

GOP insiders are pushing Pence on Trump. We'll see if he buckles.

No doubt the Neocon establishment douche bag hacks in the media will be celebrating the Pence pick. I could see tuning into FNC tonight and they will be giddy over it, the likes of Bret Baier, Hume, Krauthammer. The same contingent of people who will likely be pushing for Hillary or voting for her in due time. You can never satisfy those people so there is no point in Trump catering to them.

There are are now a flood of new articles on this today so it looks like it is in fact a done deal now. I just cringe thinking Pence who gave in-state tuition to illegals and voted for every damn globalist trade policy would be VP. What was the entire point of Trump's platform and anti-establishment campaign if you are going to undue it in one shot.

This would show that Trump is either an establishment phony, or dangerously arrogant and naive.

"I don’t need two anti-establishment people," Trump said. "Someone respected by the establishment and liked by the establishment would be good for unification. I do like unification of the Republican Party."

heh

This is going to be a blood bath of lost support from people who have traditionally been in Trump's corner if Trump goes down this route.

The trump base isn't smart enough to differentiate Mike Pence from Lysander Spooner. As long as trump keeps saying self-contradictory boneheaded fluff in a loud, coarse and "un-PC" way, they'll keep right on with him.

You're probably right, but it will be harder for Trump to throw red meat to the jackals with an establishment D-bag like Pence out there as VP.

Pence is an establishment disaster all around, based on his trade and immigration history, and his caving last year on religious liberty. The better VP pick among "respectable" Republicans remains Sen. Sessions, so we'll see what Trump does do. Does he prioritize agenda loyalty, or pleasing the elite he just defeated?

I would take Sessions as VP although some people have made a good point it would be better to have him as an ally in the Senate.

Not sure why Pence would upset Trump supporters. He is more ideologically aligned with Trump than people who were likely higher on his list of choices. Pence has the same anti-immigrant views.

I would bet Kasich was Trump's number 1 draft choice. I wouldn't be surprised if Rubio was higher up than Pence. Christie and Newt are probably still in the running if Pence falls through. Who would be an anti-establishment choice that isn't off the rails. 80 year Pat Buchanan maybe?

At 80 I would still take Pat over any of them. Pence is hardly anti-immigrant since he chose to give illegals in-state tuition over the rest of us out of staters. He is also the opposite of Trump on trade which is the centerpiece of Trump's campaign to "bring back the jobs".

Trump beat out 17 candidates based on him being anti-establishment. He should continue to make his choices based on what got him to where he is right now. How do you skip over so many choices for someone like Pence.

I think Trump's starting to blow it with his new strategy. This kissing the ass of the establishment is not working. If Manafort is behind any of this his ass should be fired.

I'd prefer Buchanan over Pence and the (worse) alternatives, but if Trump is trying to satisfy both his agenda priorities and pick somebody acceptable to GOP leaders (yet loyal to Trump), Sessions is right there as the best compromise figure.

Obvious choice. In 2014, at that point, some suggested Rand pick nobody-face Mitch Daniels.

The whole point is these guys are nobodies. If Walker could shut his mouth and not self-promote he could be a useful nobody to a campaign.

I think Trump will still pick one of the other males that have been floated as choices.

I don't think Pence is great, but Christie, Newt, and Sessions aren't any better and Christie is probably a lot worse.

In the words of Hillary, "What difference does it make?"

Isn't the choice of who will be VP up to the delegates?

As far as I know, Trump's pick would only be a suggestion by him. It's up to the delegates to pick the VP.
