Hi there,
I am happy to report that Ron Paul received 2 out of the 3 delegate spots from our precinct (5362) with a McCain supporter as the third. My wife and I (we are the two delegates), come hell or high water, will make it to all conventions if elected, which can probably be said for 90% of the delegates voting for Ron Paul. The straw poll was 2 Ron Paul, 1 McCain, 1 Guiliani.
In addition, we spoke with RP supporters from other precincts and the news was all positive. In one instance, we won 5 out of 9 delegate spots, in another 5 out of 8 and 2 out of 3 in another. I take this as a very good sign. Also, I spoke with a RP 'counter/exit poll-esque' volunteer when we left that confirmed the same to people he spoke with as they were exiting.
Before we went into our respective precinct rooms, I'd say that out of roughly 20% of the people there has "Ron Paul 2008" stickers visible.
The only negative comments I heard from other RP supports was that some delegate candidates said things like "I'll vote for anyone but Ron Paul" and being very negative about him during their 1 minute speech.
That said, I think we have a lot to celebrate today and we will continue to fight as hard as ever for freedom and rule of law. BTW, we plan on canvassing in Santa Monica during the next couple weeks in preparation for the CA caucus. If anyone has any experience with canvassing this area, please IM me.
