As it stands, a brokered convention is the clearest path to a Paul nomination. According to GOP bylaws, we MUST get first place in FIVE states in order to get the nomination in a brokered convention. It's looking like our best shot is in the Mountain West, where Paul gets most of his donations, and most of his votes as well (Nevada = point in case). States like Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Utah, and Colorado are going to be good to us, but we NEED to take first place in them, and in order to do that, we HAVE to reach out to the Mormon community and earn their votes, or else Romney is going to win those states.

Ideas on Mormon outreach? Anyone?

Also don't forget Alaska. From my understanding our chances of winning Alaska are very good.

You will NEVER take 1st in Utah. Ever. Do you realize how many mormons we have? They vote blindly for Romney and don't watch Fox news. Period. Even if Romney dropped out they'd write him in.

I think with some hard work we can take Alaska (it went to Buchanan back when he ran), but we still need 4 more states, and those are likely to be the Mormon Mountain states.

we are definitely going to win in alaska and nevada i think...

Only 3 states. LA and Alaska.

No, 5 states:

http://www.gop.com/About/Rules31-41.htm

Rule 40.

(b) Each candidate for nomination for President of the United States and Vice President of the United States shall demonstrate the support of a majority of the delegates from each of five (5) or more states, severally, prior to the presentation of the name of that candidate for nomination.

Just keep doing what www.mormonsforronpaul.com has been doing. Emphasize that only Ron Paul has fought for 30 years to support the Constitution. the Constitution is borderline scripture to Mormon's, we emphasize that Romney has taken positions AGAINST the Constitution many times (he also has not been great on supporting LDS values, the abortion flip flopping teally should have hurt him in Mormon country, but so far a lot of people are feeling that he "repented" so that angle is not getting a lot of traction.

It's pretty tough going here in Utah - I did talk to the owner of Mountain States Steel at a McDonald's the other day, we talked for about 45 minutes and he was supporting Romney, but after our talk he said he was going to do some checking on Ron Paul.

Not sure there is a silver bullet, there are a certain number of people that will vote Romney, they don't realize how harmful he would be to our country and to our religion, they just think that a Mormon president would be a great way to help convert people because they think it will attract (positive) interest to the religion..

Let's be honest -- our current status quo level of outreach to Mormons isn't going to cut it. We NEED to win Mormon heavy Mountain states, and we need a far more massive outreach to Mormons than we currently have.

What kind of ideas can we come up with for this? Could we do an OLFD type operation for Mormon areas?

RP will NOT get the nomination in a brokered convention. The idea would be to push for the VP slot or something else. Let's be realistic, people.

Another problem; mormons are pro-war. They way they see it, we have to defend Isreal from the bad-guys. You will never change their minds on that. Mormons believe we are in the end days and if we withdraw from the region God will not protect us during the second coming.

Mormons value their privacy I do not think they really want their religion smeared all over the HISTORY CHANNEL and it would be under a Mitt presidency!!!

someone posted this before...

Mormons are very passionate about the constitution. It's held as a divinely influenced/inspired document. If they can find out how strongly Paul is fighting for the constitution... we can win a substantial amount of them.

The other issue is homeschooling, which I believe is well-practiced in Mormon families. Paul is HUGE on homeschooling and very popular with those families. This is another point to win them over.

False. some Mormons may believe that, a GOOD MANY do not.
