+Rep thread for those who have contacted their Senators and House Reps against SOPA/PIPA

Yes it was. That is how we killed it on the first vote and the whips had to go to work overtime, and give huge concessions to get votes, because of the risk, and then we threw people out at midterms, and the TARP vote is a scarlet letter, forever. That is how it is done.

I also promoted Chainspells new video on my FB page, which has over 1200 followers....

I have contacted, but don't give me +rep, I don't want it, at all. -rep for contacting.

If that doesn't fire you up enough I made sure to preface the mail with a statement that will inflame them because I never get a real response from my congress critter or senators.

Dear Senator Ayotte:

On behalf of what is no doubt a large group of Granite Staters, many of whom are and have long been pioneers in the development of the Internet and associated technologies that provide jobs and promote free exchange of ideas daily, I ask you to reconsider your support of PIPA. While guarding against online copyright infringement is a worthy endeavor, the bill's overly broad language provides the federal government too great an opportunity to stifle free expression and stunt the kinds of innovations that have made the Internet industry the generator of 15% of our country's GDP in the last decade.

I enthusiastically supported your election, giving money and time to your campaign and working to convince others to give you their vote instead of Rep. Hodes, no small task considering I work in traditionally liberal academia. However, a vote to pass PIPA, coupled with your support of the NDAA, guarantees my money and efforts will go toward supporting your opponent in 2016. With candidates for office losing elections by razor thin margins in recent years, this is no small matter.

Thank you for your consideration.

I just had a pleasant conversation calling the offices of my Rep and two Senators. I've already forgotten their specific positions on things but I Marco Rubio seemed the worst in supporting the provisions in NDAA. Bill Nelson seemed the best, opposing the provisions of NDAA and also PIPA. From my calling today the conversations all lasted about 3.5 minutes each (was on hold at Bill Nelson office once the busy signal ended).

+ rep in titles now? LOL!

I will contact them as I have in the past, but I don't want a +rep.

Im no fan of SOPA/PIPA but if it were signed, it would be another check in our column. :)

But people need to be reminded that even if it is shelved for now, make no mistake about it, that it will be singed into law AFTER the election UNLESS Dr. Pail is the POTUS.

Done and done. Contacted rep as well as senators. +repping as many of you as time will allow, as well.

I also recommend signing the google petition, sharing links on facebook, and changing profile pictures to this (which every one of us should do):
