Rep. Justin Amash again votes 'present' on Keystone XL pipeline legislation

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Repeating his previous action, U.S. Rep. Justin Amash stood as the only House Republican to not vote in favor of the Keystone XL pipeline project.
Amash, R-Cascade Township, voted "present" on a bill Friday to allow the construction of the controversial pipeline, which would run from the U.S./Canadian border to the Gulf Coast.
The project garnered more Democratic support this time than it did back in May 2013, with a total of 252 representatives voting for and 161 against. Amash not only broke rank with colleagues but was the only House member to vote "present."
Amash previously explained he supports the pipeline being built, but does not agree with any one company — in this case, TransCanada Keystone Pipeline, L.P. — standing out in any bill.
When asked whether the same logic applied with this latest vote, Amash spokesman Will Adams emailed, "Yes."
