Imagine if a few hundred thousand of those 6 million dead jews in ww2 were armed... many would still be alive after the war if they were able to at least fight back.

Kinda interesting how switzerland has so many guns... yet switzerland is known for their banks o_o. i thought banks are evil and want to disarm everyone.

Banks like any institution is only as evil as the gov allows it to be. Switzerland doesn't have an evil gov because it's a small country with a more accountable and transparent form of gov. The American republic is oligarchical and liberty is rhetorical. Meaning Americans are far more at risk to suffer the fate of the German people of the 1930's. For instance the Swiss gov has no one with executive power.

After their military service, Swiss people are not required to keep their weapon, they are allowed to if they wish, but the automatic mode must first be deactivated and they are no longer allowed to carry it outside their homes. I don't know why this video says 'required'.

Also, in recent years (1999 and 2008 specifically), a lot of gun control legislation has been introduced in Switzerland. This includes:
- A permit is required to purchase weapons
- Non-citizen permanent residents of foreign origin are no longer allowed to purchase weapons
- Every gun is registered with a serial number
- Airsoft and imitation guns are treated with all the same laws as real firearms
- Suppressors are banned
- Hollow points are only permitted for hunters
- Public carry of any weapon is not permitted for civilians (except for certain jobs like private security)
- Guns must be transported separate from their ammunition
- All firearm transport must have a specific purpose and must be direct to the location
- Guns must be stored separate from ammunition
- There are also various canton-specific gun control measures

Unsurprisingly, crime has increased in Switzerland since 1999.

Switzerland is a very bad example of a gun haven as of today. Most US states have better gun laws and in the last few years, gun control has reduced in the United States and crime has also decreased. Switzerland is however, a good case study for the negative effect of gun control.

And once again add the war dead to those countries with lower death rate than the Swiss and it doesn't look so good. The Swiss have not been in a war for 400 years. Pretty much all the other countries have had horrible bloody foreign wars.

Agreed. Switzerland is certainly not an example of lack of excessive gun regulation for people to point to when comparing US states. It is good to compare to a place like UK. Where I live, I have substantially more liberty than folks in Switzerland.
