Remember: Iowa is Meaningless

So we all quit en masse if we don't win Iowa? I know nobody said that, but there is a long road ahead. No one ever said it would be easy. There are more debates, and eventually, buyers remorse will sink in from the remaining states if Iowa, NH, etc. don't go the way we hoped. I think there's a lot of football left to be played, and I hope that people don't go running for the hills at the first true obstacles that come our way. I agree though that not winning in Iowa would test the mettle of the base and separate the wheat from the chaff. I, for one, am here for the long haul.

We could count for something, win some states, maybe even put up a decent performance and set the stage for Libertarian thought to spread and become common amongst regular Americans. But winning would be out of our grasp (again, barring the event we won New Hampshire instead, which is only possible if someone unelectable like Santorum wins followed very closely by Paul)

No, we shift rapidly to plan B.

Do not delude yourself.

The race for the GOP nomination is over, without a win on Tuesday.

But, don't get me wrong, I'm not going anywhere.

No One But Paul.

Right. If we win then we can do this peacefully. A total Iowa blowout would be good, yet it doesn't look likely.

Sadly, you might be right. His momentum will be gone and the "unelectable" meme will stick. That said, of we win Iowa, we have to win every caucus state before and including super Tuesday. That's over 400 delegates up for grabs. Not to mention the 500 or so from primaries at the same time. The nomination or brokered convention will be decided before super Tuesday IMO. We need to get a big share of delegates and we have an advantage in caucus states!

And I hate to come off sounding like a nattering nabob of negativity.

But that's the fact, a loss on Tuesday will, as far as the GOP for president goes, be the end for us.

I'm open to anything else past that however.

You come off sounding straight up--that is all

A second under Santorum wouldn't be that bad would it. Santorum will be written off as another Huckabee... as long as we are ahead of or tied with Mit we should be okay but I think The Good Dr. wins and creates a landslide of support that will roll right onto the steps of the White House.

Lose to Santorum?

The MSM would convince people in NH, SC and FL that it's proof that the GOP thinks Ron Paul's foreign policy ideas are scary and dangerous.

BINGO

Ron Paul knows he Must Win Iowa

He then admitted the path to the nomination was unclear without a strong performance in Iowa and the New Hampshire primary next week.

Asked in an ABC News interview in Des Moines whether he sees himself in the Oval Office, Mr Paul replied: 'Not really, but I think it's a possibility.'

He added: 'I don't deceive myself. You know what the odds are. The odds have been slim.'

Facts are facts.

I'm not going to get jerked around like last time with talk of "stealth delegates", "land line polls that aren't accurate" and "secret billionaires".

It is what it is, and I know in my heart that only a small fraction of my fellow citizens, know, understand and want freedom.

The rest just want to be told where to squat and shit.

We'll know today if that fraction is large enough to win in Iowa.

Exactly.

I get so sick of hearing fools talk of the stealth delegates. Statements like that give credence to the MSM perception of Ron Paul supporters
