I think this takes a fairly superficial look at the alcohol issue. Bourbon is a signature industry in the state, perhaps that could be the reason....
If I'm not mistaken weren't Kentucky farmers somewhat "forced" to grow hemp in the 40's?
Did Jack's farm family in Union County grow hemp?![]()
That's makes no sense. Maybe Jack doesn't label alcohol a gateway drug because he profits from it. Also, Hemp was a signature industry in Kentucky a long time ago so, your comment fails on many levels.
Oh seriously come on. You won't find one politician in Kentucky that will label alcohol a gateway drug. Your logic is flawed, it's called post hoc ergo propter hoc.

"Which state does Jack Conway propose should be forced to donate money to fight drugs in Kentucky? Should it be a state with a fiscally responsible government that runs a budget surplus? Or a state like California? Or should it be a state with no drug problem of their own? Which state is that Jack? Or is he suggesting that Kentuckians send more money to Washington beurocrats in hopes of getting a portion sent back to fight drugs in Kentucky?
Will Jack Conway be as eager to volunteer Kentucky taxpayer money to fight problems in other states? Such as fighting gambling addiction in Nevada? Cattle rustling in Texas? Dog fighting in Georgia? Or is there a limit to his willingness to be charitable with other people's money?
Absolutely devastating revelation considering the very serious dangers of alcohol as compared to marijuana. This should be mentioned in a press release from the Rand campaign.
They should also include something like this.
Doubt Rand will say anything more on drugs. Conway is carting out parents of dead addicts (granted the guy yesterday was a father of kid who committed suicide).
I'm sure there are plenty of dead alcoholics in Kentucky, and plenty of people killed by drunk drivers.
Who said anything prohibitionist? Facts are not prohibitionist, they are just facts. And the fact is, he is the prohibitionist, a hypocritical one, profiting off the drug trade and suppressing competition with your tax money. Highlighting his family's involvement in drug pushing seems like a no brainer to me. They probably advertise on television in Kentucky for all the children to see.Yeah. But, I doubt our point is to be more prohibition than them.

Industrial hemp should be pushed as an issue as a way to lower marijuana production because industrial hemp ruins any nearby marijuana crops through cross pollinization. It is also probably the "greenest" material known to man, and will reduce the need for farm subsidies. In my view it is a win/win situation for a Kentucky politician. The industrial hemp bill passed overwhelmingly in the Kentucky legislature.
