Is the GOP about to transform into the party of the gold standard?

Earth to Harsanyi: Ron Paul favors competing currencies in the market, not a government administered gold standard!

Let's, for a moment, forget Paul (and how I wish this could be a permanent condition, considering the congressman is neither a serious politician nor -- and I can't stress this enough -- a serious thinker).

Paul's newsletters of the '80s and '90s were filled with anti-Semitic and racist rants, proving his slumming in the ugliest corners of conspiracyland today is no mistake.

Perhaps the greatest tragedy of Paul is that thousands of intellectually curious young people will have read his silly books, including "End the Fed," as serious manifestoes

You know with all the anti-Ron Paul bullshit coming out.. it seems like one thing is clear to me...

The establishment believes the 2012 presidential campaign has BEGUN...

so fuck it.. lets start now.

Jesus Christ, I saw this over at Reason and almost puked. What is it with these people? I have to believe there is an element of jealousy involved. What other explanation can there be if these people are supposedly in the business of promoting liberty??? I am certain they are merely jealous of Dr. Paul's influence and following. They pulled the same crap during the campaign. I guess they are the definition of "beltway libertarians". Another example of why I will never donate a single penny to Reason.

Ya, Reason and Cato turned their backs on libertarians in 2008.

They showed their true colors and it wasn't pretty.

People who use Frankfurt School agitprop words like "racist" (coined by Trotsky) should be hung by their balls (after a fair trial, of course).

That word is becoming so drained of import throught overuse that the most effective response to is to laugh at ridicule it.

Blood boiling.

Reason and CATO are establishment.

Just like Glenn Beck they sound nice till the rubber meets the road. Then they show their true colors-those of the Statists.

Ahh...then the Reason author goes on to quote Cato:

A serious libertarian, David Boaz at the Cato Institute, found that 14 percent of American voters could be classified as libertarian. "Other surveys," he points out, "find a larger number of people who hold views that are neither consistently liberal nor conservative but are best described as libertarian."

for me, this persons argument becomes instantly invalid when i see words like "racist, anti-Semitic" thrown around or dismisses best selling books as"silly".
how could anyone take this article serious when the author is using the weakest name calling tactics?
make no sense to attack the one person with the potential to bring the liberty message to the mainstream.

i am a current subscriber to reason but will be seriously re-thinking my renewal.

First they laugh at you. Then they ignore you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

we're getting close!

How to shutdown people calling Ron Paul a racist/anti-semite.

Paul was in Congress when Israel bombed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear plant in 1981 and — unlike the United Nations and the Reagan administration — defended its right to do so. He says Saudi Arabia has an influence on Washington equal to Israel’s. His votes against support for Israel follow quite naturally from his opposition to all foreign aid. There is no sign that they reflect any special animus against the Jewish state.

Professor Walter Block: As a Jew, I can vouch for Ron as a non anti Semite. I've known him for four decades, personally. Never even a whiff of anything like that have I ever experienced. But this is not just me. There is now an organized group, Jews for Ron Paul, who feel about him as I do. They would hardly join if they thought this charge had any merit whatsoever.

Pretty pathetic and transparent attempt to gain traffic. What a weak piece.

They are dead to me.

"Paul was in Congress when Israel bombed Iraq’s Osirak nuclear plant in 1981 and — unlike the United Nations and the Reagan administration — defended its right to do so."

Why?

I think you are right. We are not restrained by any preconceptions. We have liberty. Victory is ours.
