He did well. He got cheers for saying that the traditional Republican position was peace, not war. A few people in the audience got rowdy when Affleck said Romney would get the nomination, which IMO was the funniest part of the show. As someone stated above, Maher made the comment that he had Ben Afflck on the show and the audience is chanting Ron Paul!

Affleck was gung ho during the show for John Edwards, so evidently that's his candidate of choice this time around.

I'm glad that Maher is defending Dr. Paul.

I also wish they would move beyond the war stuff and into the ultimate impact of our own gov'ts use of "terror" against we the people in order to eliminate so many of our liberties...

Dr. Paul can SHINE on that subject.

Maybe he can take an otherwise innocuous question at the upcoming debates and use it to go there.

The Civil War was fought over the balance of power between the States and Federal government. The Confederacy, since the Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, thought that the States should hold most of the power and be able to nullify Federal decisions. The Union fought on the side of a more centralized Federal government that can legislate the slavery question and others, even though the Constitution doesn't allow it to.

At least that's my take on it. If we want to debate this, we need another topic.
