Which is why the contrasts have to be pointed out....Otherwise, every Candidate is pulling off the same image.

not really. if you say that dr paul does not participate in the congressional pension fund or that he was one of the few people to stand out and vote against iraq war a few years ago then you are immediately demonstrating that he is capable of resisting the pressures of the majority and the privileges of having power. you don't need to compare him explicitly to anybody else.

I realize this thread wasn't meant to point out problems, but I digress...

I noticed watching Huckabee the other night he used the word "feel" and "percieve" a lot. Despite his policy, I think this is well received to the average Joe. I haven't seen the numbers, but I bet he gets the female vote. I think not getting the female vote really hurts us. Females are more inclined to socialize or bond with friends. This is where our message could really be spread.

I agree with the post that he needs to provide more solutions. Someone pointed that out before the last debate, so I watched for it on Saturday. Sure enough it was true.

We all know that RP is a straight shooter. However, others don't know his record. He has also been smeared as a kook, etc. The only solution in my mind is to set the record straight. Like Romney attempted with his Mormonism. Something along the lines of "My fellow Americans I realize that my ideas sound extreem, etc. But I want to share my message with you. Our country is at a turning point, etc, etc"

That would come across as very statesman like (see State of The Union) and show he is a real person like everyone else as well as Presidential. Not some crazy that the media portrays. Hell, drop a million dollars to make it in primetime. It's a gamble, but I think it would pay off immensely.

Bull. You're stuck on this "Just tell everyone how honest our guy is!" Every candidate's supporters and their mothers are doing that. You have to demonstrate differences on the issues. You have to compare and contrast.

I've explained on numerous posts that there is a cycle to the messaging: start with the warm and fuzzy bio ads to introduce the candidates, then spell out his stances and issues, THEN compare and contrast (and sometimes attack) before ending on a positive note and give people a reason to vote FOR your candidate.

this would work wonders... and he needs a speech/outline written by someone not currently on the official campaign staff.

Well maybe you can help me actually since you are in D.C. How do you sell Ron Paul in an area that's economy depends on a large government? I'm in NOVA, so I'd guess 80% in the area work in something government related. I get a lot of...a Paul presidency means I lose my job.

Maybe you've been too busy bashing the official campaign on these boards to have noticed that McCain is getting the independent and Republican vote. They think he's a consistent and principled candidate. Honorable. Truthful. A "straight-talker." Obviously, there wasn't enough comparing and contrasting done!

I'm in NOVA and am new here, but voting for Paul. I thought about the point of Paul having a problem in the DC area w/ smaller gov. I'm all for it of course.
