Rand's poll numbers have to be increasing when the MSM puts out this...

Bullshit. "Career" wise? Well, if Ron was only in it for book sales then I suppose so. The fact that he is nonexistent in his son's campaign is indicative of something. What is that?

I meant that in the general sense, the son wanting to go out and make his own way without the help of his father.

Hard to believe Ron wouldn't be at events if Rand asked. It probably wasn't a great strategy keeping Ron so far from the campaign. I wouldn't be stunned if Rand hasn't given Ron as much credit as he should like the article states.

Those are minor complaints. Having watched Ron talk about Rand in interviews and given the people around Ron, it seems likely that the article is at least somewhat accurate about Ron's feeling toward Rand. I could speculate on a lot of things. One thing that does not need to be speculated on is the way Rockwell, Woods, Wenzel, etc behaves toward Rand. It is inexcusable. It is damaging toward Rand, which should be enough for Ron to intervene. Supposedly Ron reads those sites everyday. Ron is either a coward or a bad parent for not doing the right thing.

Forget about trying to accuse Rand or Ron of being opportunists...how about the staffers? What does it say about all the former Paul staffers jumping on board with Cruz, etc? They're probably the ones spreading these rumors.

The sad part is that it isn't too hard to believe. I mean, honestly, has Ron appeared at any of Rand's appearances? Even been asked to? That's gotta chafe.

I know what you mean. Someone who is 80 years old and retired should definitely be trotting all over America. At that age, guy needs his exercise. What's Ron thinking? He's going to get fat from eating all those delicious cookies.

So Ron's a doddering old fool? Please. Bicycle Ron?

After reading this OP I have to say that this really, really, wrong. It is the one thing, underlying, that has stuck in my craw.

No where is his father evident in his sons bid.

There is something really wrong with that. Really, really, wrong.

BTW, this is just another iteration of the weekly "Rand needs to unleash Ron Paul" thread. They have their reasons, whether it be personal or political, we may find out the whole story in 20 years or so.

Nor used in any constructive way to ensure Rand had the strong and total support of RP's base and network. Lew and the gang wouldn't be attacking Rand if Ron was out there campaigning for him.

Rand and Ron both ate dinner together at Eagle Forum's Eagle Council in early September. I think they were honoring Carol Paul as woman of the year. Father and son do have an interesting relationship, however. Its hard to put a finger on it. Rand kinda reminds me of the middle brother from The Lion in Winter...he is brilliant, but there is just something lacking in personality. I will write him in cause I recognize the brilliance, but others (maybe even his father) just don't see it or just arent excited by him. People are correct in noting that Woods, Rockwell and the bunch could be told to stand down. Maybe the problem is actually Ron's too...he is an old man with friends who he wont say no to. Werent there rumors that Rockwell was the guy who wrote the infamous newsletters?

I don't buy this for a second!

I can totally believe Ron said a thng like, “Well, if he’s so great, he should run for president himself." but I don't believe he "snapped" it in an angry way. He probably just said it because he knew it might happen in the future. Wasn't Ron Rand's best man at his wedding?

I think Ron is just hanging back, letting Rand be his own man and run his own campaign. Campaigning with Ron could make Rand appear too weak to pull his own weight. Also too many people in politics/media are predjudiced against Ron Paul and probably still believe many of the lies told about him. Rand needs to be seen for himself.

I do hope to see Ron play more of a role in the campaign later. He'd probably really increase the size of the crowds, the two of them would be fun to see together, and I miss him. :o

Rons lived a long life and has made a lot of friends. I don't see him as the type to tell his friends to shut up. Hey may comment on their comments, attack them for attacking Rand. Like he has done in the past, but I think this is so Rand doesn't get confused with Ron especially because a lot of people still confuse their names a lot.

I did respond, but given that I just found out that Ron's daughter (Rand's sister) is in critical condition this moment, I think speculating about the Paul family dynamics ....is not what I should be doing. Instead, I will pray.

Ooooo! Gossip! Intrigue!

I'm sure there's truth in this article, but I'm also sure that it's been distorted and taken out of context by anonymous staffers and political adversaries.
