Rand was afraid to attack the establishment. Wasted opportunity

I thought it was a huge mistake to attack Trump. The mood this election is anti-establishment but Rand modified too many of his positions to cozy up to the warmongers. Had he ripped Bush and Rubio he would have done much better.

trumps voters are cruz, carson and paul voters. if trump disappeared tomorrow, most of his votes would go to cruz, paul and carson. i'm not sure paul's strategy of nuclear war with trump is correct. he may alienate those voters. he needs to change their minds. i think he should find common ground on immigration, trump's number one positiion and then oppose him on everything else. this way he would have a chance at getting those trump voters when trump eventually drops out

Polls say otherwise. Latest RCP accepted poll shows him at 2 or 3%.

If polls won nominations, we would have a President Giuliani, a President Gingrich, or a President Bachmann. The polls right before the Iowa Caucus are the ones to look at, so don't be to disappointed when you see where Trump is polling then.

3% is not the right call.

Damn this forum is filled with depressing messages. Just about every other post has some negativity in it towards the campaign. You'd almost start believing that there is controlled opposition on these boards. The first primary is still half a year away.

What made Ron great in 07' and 12' was the amount of energy people had, the confidence and the ambition to change the world. There seems to be a whole lot less of that this time around.

The thing is, Rand can't do this alone. If you want him to fail, become a detractor, then so be it but please don't do it under the liberty banner.

Well, I'm getting a bit depressed from this all. I know this place as a place full of positive energy and people with passion. Please remember that.

Exactly. Great point.

I disagree. Rand needs to knock Trump of his perch and reclaim his rightful spot as the true anti-establishment candidate.

When all is said and done, Trump won't be a serious contender for the nomination. And where is all his support going to go? We need it to go to Rand. And there's no reason it can't.

First of all Trump is an establishment candidate.

Second, Rubio is polling poorly so it's a waste of time attacking him. Same can be said of Bush for how well he is known, the money he has and the amount of media he has gotten.

Well he thought the establishment hurt Ron's campaign in 2012 thus he was determined to make peace with them. Didn't work. In 2014 no one was in more demand to campaign for Republican Senators than Rand, but how many have endorsed him?? Where are Koch Brothers??

Jesus Christ, do you think Rand was the only GOP senator stumping for other candidates? Do you expect all of the people Rand campaigned for to only come out for him and at an early stage? Everyone is out to hedge their bets, everyone wants to be with the winner. Why are people so blind to these facts of life?\

Do you want to bitch about Rand soon badly that it blinds you?

We live in a sound bite age. If Rand wants to communicate to voters, he needs to distill his positions down to less than 30 seconds. He doesn't need to waste time talking *about* anyone. He needs to use his time to talk *to* voters.

More savvy, less snark.

Just about. In every tough race, Rand was the go to guy!!

Rand is not doing nearly as well as Ron did, because he has sucked up to the establishment.. The Congress has a 16% approval rating.. It was far higher ran Ron was bucking their bullchit and doing very well. If Congress has a 16% approval rating, why not go for the other 84% ?

Rand kissed McConnell's ass. The more I think about it, I can't say how I truly feel. But Rand lost his position as the candidate most likely to win, by kissing asses of those with 16% approval ratings. Trumpchit going the same way, as he kisses arse of Bolton, of all people... The salvation of this nation is Bolton???

I'm sick about Rand. If truth be known, I never had the "tingle up my leg" with Rand, as I did for his father. My gut says he's lost this, and doesn't care.. He didn't want it anyway. He never had the zeal his father had. He comes across as a spoiled, rotten, little brat. And I'm a supporter, can you imagine what a non supporter feels?
