Rand suspends campaign

Would you have been happier if he had stayed in long enough to collect even more of your money even when he knows there is no path to victory?
The debates were his only real chance at changing the conversation and getting his message out. Once he was out of the debates then he would get no more of a podium than Santorum or Huckabee on the campaign trail. Yes he is focusing now on his Senate seat but that isn't the reason he suspended his campaign. He suspended his campaign because there was no longer any benefit of staying in.
I gave my largest single campaign contribution ever to Rand just 2 days ago.

It was clear to me for months that spending money to fight Trump in the fall was pointless - it wouldn't work and whatever benefit might come would be temporary. Rand quits now, disappointing, because whatever reason to spend money is right now. It's just the least pointless time to spend money. 5th wasn't 10th. But, meh, whatever.

They were not able to convince ABC and the RNC to let him in the next debate. Without that, he would have needed to raise in the $10M range this week to get enough exposure to be competitive in NH, and probably another $10M to make it to his first win in NV and be competitive on March 1.

So the media decides who our candidates are. And, sadly, the people go along. I was phone banking for Rand and what I learned was that most people get their info from tv and radio and they would just repeat talking points as if the words were their own. They do not even know what they think; they think what someone else tells them. I am very upset with ABC, but also the RNC who of courses are a part of this decision and ok'd it. Sorry, I will not be watching any debates or voting for their candidates.

By the way, I was also contributing financially to Rands campaign and I do not regret a penny of it. I also was making phone calls into NH last night for him...so very rude awakening this morning. So sad...to lose someone of integrity and character to the sleazy powers that be. I wish he could have stuck it out.

People like him are now trusting Cruz because he recently started speaking in front of a giant sign that says "TrusTED".

And how does that line go, again? Ah, yes...
"You find out that the freak you trusTED was the fink that got you busted"

Totally agree - this matched my phone banking experience as well. Almost everyone in Iowa was undecided and had a favorable impression of Rand, but you could tell that at best he was their second or third choice. The media just controlled the narrative and stopped anyone from ever seriously considering him. I have a feeling part of the weak showing for Rand in Iowa was soft supporters changing their support for Rubio or Cruz just to stop Trump.

I haven't read through this entire thread, but the people complaining about Rand giving it up too easily...

No, 5th in Iowa meant it was over.

He could have continued with some kind of educational campaign, but he wouldn't have been in any debates, and frankly it would have been a waste of money.

...this just wasn't our year.

Blame your idiot neighbors for being fucking idiots and voting for socialism (Trump/Cruz/Rubio/etc); don't blame the one man who tried to fight against the trend.

Rand is also trending on twitter.

They are always gracious to you after you are no longer of concern, much like people that will speak well of someone after they are dead. Call me cynical, but I am not moved by crocodile tears, whether from Palin or anyone else.

Nice to see Rand trending on twitter, everybody seems to like him after it does little good.

I think a lot of people like him, they just don't want to vote for him.

The media has always been the principle problem, and every year I develop a greater degree of contempt for most in the journalistic profession. It might be a terrible thing to say, but whenever I hear about some journalist in the Mid-East getting their head cut off or getting shot while embedded with soldiers, it's tough to feel sorry for them, they were either there for purposes of self-righteousness or they were at the front-line of an assault on someone else's homeland.

Naturally you see an exception here and there, but they are always the exception that proves the rule, and they are usually kept it a box while being allowed to tell the truth. People talk about so-called free speech zones at protests and demonstrations, but nobody wants to talk about the ones that are placed in the MSM.

It's a curious paradox, isn't it, people like something and yet stand idly by and allow it to be dragged through the mud. I'm sure a lot of those cunt anchor ladies on the networks that swarmed all over Rand over the "Shhh" incident like him too, especially now that he's not going to be president. With friends like that, who needs enemies?

The campaign should have never been strategically about "winning" in the media. The campaign should have been about spreading radical ideas that push the boundaries of what is and what isn't freedom , and what is and what isn't a free society. He should have been shaping the debates, and shaping the dialogue, its unfortunate that instead of changing strategies and getting rid of a weak approach ,he would just suspend campaign. Rally for the Republic was massive, he should be calling for things like this ,but the only way he will ever get the kinds of crowds he needs is if he speaks radically in the defense of individual liberty.

He came off too much as a beta. Like it or not, people are drawn to strength. Someone should look into a Liberty Hercules for future endeavors.

If strength is what you're looking for, then Rubio is your man, there's nothing tougher than a guy willing to use our arsenal to turn the Mid-East into a sea of glass, though Trump's people are the only one musing over using the nukes publicly. Meat-heads are drawn to testosterone infused barbarians, which explains your love for Trump. Rand came off as a beta to you because he used logic, whereas you were looking for caveman grunts.

Your idea of a Hercules and Liberty don't go together anymore than water and petroleum.

When I speak of strength, I am referring to self-confidence and the ability to retail sell. Rand is more of an introvert (which isn't his fault).
