Rand Paul wins Maine straw poll

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.), who spoke Saturday at the Maine Republican Convention, was the big winner in the party’s straw poll. Paul took 26 percent of the vote, to 14 percent for the second-place finisher, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas).

With 690 ballots cast at the convention in Bangor, the order of finish was:

Ted Cruz coming in second is a good thing as well. Much better than other candidates whos followers are less likely to have Rand as their second choice.
Rand would also surely get quite a few of the Ben Carson votes (who placed 4th).

I think Maine is extremely winnable. This straw poll isn't the only thing I'm basing that on - mostly that Ron did very well there and has a great grassroots organization and Rand is a better speaker/politician who has wider appeal.
