Here's a letter from Ron:

Dear Friend,

On Wednesday, August 5, my son Rand will in the New York City to make a major annoucement, and will meet afterward with friends. Some of our special friends in Manhattan have been working very hard to arrange this event, and I hope you can turn out and show your support for Liberty.

The location will be:

Webster Hall
125 E 11th Street, NY, NY
7:00 pm – 9:00 pm

Contributions of $25, $50 or $100 are requested. Donations at all levels are greatly appreciated, but contributions of $100 or more guarantee you a signed constitution by both Rand and me.

Again, I hope you can turn out to support Rand on Wednesday.

In Liberty,

Ron Paul

Sweet,....Scott Garrett is one of the good ones.

Apparently he's not. I just checked his wikipedia page and one of the first things I saw was.....

"Garrett is a staunch advocate of a federal prohibition of online poker."

He's also a congressman in NJ. Apparently he has no problem with gambling at the government approved casinos in Atlantic City, but thinks playing a game of skill on the internet should be a federal crime. I wouldn't be surprised if he's in the pocket of some high rollers in AC trying to protect their businesses.

I saw that also...so I rephrase and say, "He's one of the better bad ones." :) He votes pro-liberty 95% of the time so...I can give into him for a little extra support for Rand.

He was one of the first co-sponsors of HR 1207. I'd say he votes with us 90% of the time. He also gets consistently endorsed by the RLC. The Democrats have been after his seat for years but he's been able to fight them off. Definitely one fo the good guys.

from wiki:

He was one of several House conservatives who joined Democrats in opposing the Medicare Modernization Act in 2003. Garrett was the only congressman from New Jersey to vote against the reauthorization of the Voting Rights Act for purposes of states' rights.[11].

Garrett was the only member of the New Jersey delegation to vote for oil and gas drilling off the shore of New Jersey.[15] Garrett was also the only member to vote against restrictions on "price gouging" by oil companies,[16] to vote against child safety locks on handguns, and to vote against emergency funding for Hurricane Katrina victims.[17] He was the only New Jersey member to vote against federal aid for household pets in case of a disaster.[18] He was one of only four members of the House of Representatives to vote against an extension of unemployment benefits.[19]

Pretty good there.

It's at Club Rebel, which means that anyone under 21 won't be able to go :(

I guess the atlantic city thing clouds his judgement on poker... TheEngineer will not be pleased ;)
