Rand Paul to take the floor Wednesday to contest drone policy - Live NOW on CSPAN2

I thought Senator Wyden was part of the "new left-right alliance"? Is he all talk no walk or something? He said he'd still vote for the nominee.

Wyden is a partisan Democrat first and foremost. He did the same thing last time. He got up on the Senate floor and said that he agreed with what Rand was doing, but then he went ahead and voted to confirm Obama's appointee. Even when you read the article, Wyden said that he doesn't object to drone strikes that kill American citizens overseas.

“I believe that every American has the right to know when their government believes it is allowed to kill them,” Wyden said. “In the case in question, as I’ve said before, I believe that the president’s decision to authorize a military strike in those particular circumstances was legitimate and it was lawful.”

Gotta give props to Cruz on that speech even though I don't like his FP.

Glad to see Cruz acknowledge Rand's leadership on this issue, too.

Cruz also made a political point that Rand did not: Democrats running for reelection in purple states who claim that they are opposed to judicial activism, cannot in conscience vote for Barron's confirmation. If they do, it will be a vote that shows their inconsistency to voters and will be held against them by an opponent.

Coats ...

... to think on the same primary ballot we had [Ron Paul endorsed] John Hostettler.
Oh, those purists. Hostettler just wasn't good enough. Better just not vote and let Coats win. That'll further liberty! Screw those so-called activists.

Roll call of cloture vote:
http://www.senate.gov/legislative/L...ote_cfm.cfm?congress=113&session=2&vote=00161

Cloture was invoked by 52-43 vote. Party line except for Mary Landrieu and Joe Manchin voting No.

Very interesting. Two of the junior neoconservatives (Rubio, Ayotte) didn't vote. Imagine that. Lindsey Graham probably would have done the same if it wasn't for his upcoming Primary.

IOW: "It's OK for the US government to kill its citizens as long its citizens know why the US governement thinks it is OK to kill them."
So by that "logic," even if the "why" is completely bogus, it's still OK - just as long as the victims know what the "why" is ... SMGDH.
Thanks for nothing, asshole. I just lost the tiny little bit of respect I had for Wyden for his anti-NSA-domestic-surveillance stance.

Seems to me Wyden is voting yes on Barron nomination and simultaneously paying lip service to threats on civil liberties by the policies Barron endorses.

I called Wyden's office and expressed my disapproval.
