Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is heading to New York City, where he will be the featured attraction at a fundraiser at the Women’s National Republican Club, according to an invitation obtained by POLITICO.

The email from Manhattan GOP chairman Dan Isaacs invites attendees to a “private briefing” with the Senator followed by a luncheon.

A Paul aide didn’t immediately respond to an email.

Paul has made a string of trips to New York and has mingled with top-tier Republican donors, including hedge fund billionaire Paul Singer, one of his party’s staunchest pro-Israel hawks.

Paul’s trip on Aug. 13 comes a few weeks after his dust-up with New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who blasted the libertarian-leaning Kentucky lawmaker over national security issues. Paul fired back in an Associated Press interview, criticizing lawmakers for the “gimme” attitude on post-Hurricane Sandy recovery.

Now, my question is what do Rand Paul and Paul Singer could possibly have to talk about? Any ideas?

I think Singer is a pretty big critic of the Federal Reserve.

"In the colorful and often angry letter, Mr. Singer takes particular aim at the Federal Reserve (a “group of inbred academics,” in his view) "

Paul Singer does not like the US Federal Reserve. Nor is he shy about sharing his opinions on the Fed, its policies or its chairman.

Singer is just another progressive interventionist pretending to be a conservative:

Singer, who has a gay son in Massachusetts, has contributed to gay-rights causes and same-sex marriage campaigns, and has also actively sought to persuade other conservatives to support gay marriage. He has joined other Wall Street executives in support of LGBT equality in the workplace as a means of retaining employees and improving overall business outcomes.

Bah. Disgusting.

Singer doesn't even try to pretend anything. The dude is a quintessential neocon: a liberal Jew from New York, who supports "hawkish" foreign policy insofar as it means the protection of Israel. Protection of Israel is the main purpose of the neoconservative movement. These people don't give a crap about the rest of the Republican platform.
