Cruz voted to spend $400 billion and $0 billion on planned parenthood
Rand voted to spend $0 billion and $0 billion on planned parenthood.
You cant vote to NOT fund anything but fund SOMETHING...thats not possible.
Thats like me telling me wife I am not giving her any money and giving her all the money. Cant have both.

It is correct to say that Rand voted against defunding planned parenthood with the tactic proposed by Cruz. Only Mike Lee supported it. That's what your friend was referring to. Whatever happened in other moments doesn't change that fact, no matter how much you wish it did.

There were two different votes.
In one vote, he voted to defund planned parenthood.
In the other one, he voted against it.

The votes were:
1) Defund Planned Parenthood Now (Rand's bill)
2) Fund the government for $400 billion, just dont fund PP (Cruz bill)
in 1) Rand voted yes to defund PP, in 2) Rand voted to not fund the government and any of its shenanigans (including PP). Cant fund PP if you vote for $0.

Well, let me rephrase this. The media are using this to hurt him with this one, even though Rand was just simply answering the question asked.
It definitely hurt him with some though, no way around it.

OK. I'm not worried in the slightest. I was just pointing out that Rand's words are being used against him in the media and once again it's working and has turned some more people off of him.
I'm not a naysayer, you should know that. But, I can see that the "title readers" just got one more reason not to like Rand.
I've always said, Rand runs, Rand wins and I still believe it.
Not only 'title readers', those who literally heard his words will wonder what is he thinking criticizing Ted Cruz for calling McConnell a liar, when they think McConnell is indeed a liar.

Rand and Cruz just worked together to get a bill passed. Rand stood with Democrats and stopped the Patriot Act. Then Cruz offered the Freedom Act and it passed.

Theyve been using his words against him out of context for years. nothing new.
and yes, the title readers got it wrong.
the important part to remember is this, Rand doesnt see R vs. D like the American public does. He sees Constitution vs. Big Government.
And Rand's example of this is what?
He took time out of his day to check on Harry Reid's eye injury and doctor it.
Reid is a huge liar, but you dont ever read of Rand saying so during a senate session.
Theres a way to conduct yourself in the senate which was Rand's comments' point. Cruz isnt conducting himself properly and its costing him.
