Rand Paul Supports Brexit and Slams the War on Drugs at FreedomFest

Elias J. Atienza

Last week, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was at FreedomFest, an annual gathering of conservatives, libertarians, and others in Las Vegas. Other speakers included Senators Ben Sasse (R-NB), Mike Lee (R-UT), and Ted Cruz (R-TX), along with libertarians like Gary Johnson and Matt Kibbe.

Paul started his speech by slamming Hillary Clinton and her email scandal, mentioning how her press conference prematurely ended. Paul then went into Brexit.

“About a year ago, someone asked me about Brexit. And this was before it was in the news and I asked, ‘What is it?’ It’s about how England is thinking about leaving the EU. And they asked what do you think of it? I think they should have never joined in the first place,” Paul said.

Paul said that people are tired of being squeezed by government. In his speech about Brexit, Paul then mentioned “Brexit: The Movie.” It is a film supporting Great Britain leaving the EU and the burdensome regulations the EU puts on Great Britain. Check it out below.

How can you slam the war on drugs when you're for prohibition? Rand isn't even for legalizing Cannabis - a literal weed that grows in the wild that every citizen has a God-given right to use, if they choose to do so.

There's a reason humans have an endocannabinoid system that many other species don't.

“I’m not here to advocate for marijuana,” Paul continued. “But I’m here to advocate for freedom. And you know what, if I’m president I’m going to leave Colorado the hell alone.”

I think states would make up their minds. So for instance, Colorado right now has decided that it's not illegal. I think that's completely Colorado's purview. There shouldn't be federal laws against most things. In fact, when we started the country, we had laws against counterfeiting, against treason, and against piracy....

Exactly as it should be.

He is for eliminating federal drug laws and federal enforcement. His position as a US Senator is the exact as Murray Rothbard's if he were a US Senator.

He needs to set up a situation where he gets himself next to fisherman or coal miners getting attacked by Bernie Sanders Supporters.

Something like Farage did with Bob Geldof.
