Rand Paul: Stop Paul Ryan’s Omnibus Spending Bill

More Democrats voted for this than Republicans. Who has the majority in the House? Great work Paul Ryan!

Budget bill leaves no boondoggle behind

It's a victory for Democrats - and Republican sellouts

http://www.usatoday.com/story/opini...-leaves-no-boondoggle-behind-column/77476422/

Republican congressional leaders are like a football coach who believes the secret to winning is to punt early and often.
House Speaker Paul Ryan and others are claiming victory over the 2,000-plus page appropriations bill,
but this is a “no boondoggle left behind" $1.1 trillion nightmare.

House Appropriations Committee Chairman Hal Rogers' press release claims that the omnibus bill
"helps to stop waste and administrative overreach.”

Instead, the bill ravages both paychecks and freedom.
No wonder White House spokesman Josh Earnest gushed Wednesday "We feel good about the outcome."

I see a couple TN reps on the No list. The bad part, there would have been a lot more GOP voting Yes if their phones weren't getting blown up.

Paul Ryan says he doesn't like it, and next year we are gonna do things differently.

Marco, this is a budget bill 'fer Chris' sake!

But I guess most of your Gang of Eight co-sponsor buddies (minus Flake and Menendez) had you covered,
so . . . no real reason to even bother to vote

Instead of a filibuster, Rand challenges all the Senators voting for the bill to Feats of Strength and nobody is allowed to leave until he gets pinned.

The big thing is they slipped in CISA, its unpopular and they couldn't get it to pass otherwise it's in that must pass bill so it can't be stopped. Even Rand's not doing anything about it, i feel so unrepresented in this country.

THANKS OBAMA

In the past, President Obama has threatened to veto any cybersecurity bill that undermines privacy and civil liberties. Of course, people didn't quite believe that was true, and now that we see the final cybersecurity bill, the bastardized CISA has been attached to the "must pass" omnibus spending bill, and clearly is a disaster on privacy issues, what do you think the White House is saying?

Well, they love it, of course:
"We are pleased that the Omnibus includes cybersecurity information sharing legislation," a senior administration official said in an emailed statement. "The President has long called on Congress to pass cybersecurity information sharing legislation that will help the private sector and government share more cyber threat information by providing for targeted liability protections while carefully safeguarding privacy, confidentiality, and civil liberties."

Write an angry letter to your congressmen. And/or vote extra hard in the next election cycle.

I'm pretty sure this was Paul Ryan's fault, and the rest of the public who continue to elect terrorists who continue the failed omnibus funding bills that the government uses to circumvent democracy and increase deficits that doesn't ever take into consideration our huge debt.

For the eager mind:
scan the text for state/district-specific appropriations, and match it against the Yes vote of that CD's rep.

for the lazy programmer:
write an app that does it.

Rand Paul said:
The size of government is inversely proportional to individual liberty.

Best one-line quote from the article.

Rand Paul said:
The size of government is inversely proportional to individual liberty. As government grows, liberty is diminished. The government has no power that doesn’t come at the expense of personal liberty. The government has no money on its own—just what it confiscates from its citizens.

Link is not working for me. Is that the cloture vote?

The one I posted above was not the final passage. It wasn't there at that time. There were 3 votes.

Cloture:

Final passage:

So there were several (7 or 8) voting Yea to the first 2 that voted Nay on the final vote. Grassley, Vitter, Wyden are 3 I see at first look.

Yeah, the ones who voted against final passage but voted for cloture are the ones that are hiding.

What is "Motion to Waive All Applicable Budgetary Discipline"? Would that stop it or hold it up?
