Rand Paul Speaking LIVE from the #MRLC Tonight

Only 16 people watching right now. Let's make this the most watched speech of the conference. I think 1,500 people are there in person so this is a pretty big deal. A lot of major donors are there too.

It's great to be in Michigan this weekend. I am honored to be speaking tonight at the Michigan GOP's conference on Mackinac Island.

You can watch my live speech tonight at 9:00pm EST by visiting www.mackinac2013.org

Coming into this mid-speech, so unsure what led to the start of a conversation on slavery.

EDIT: Now that it's over, the line Paul said at the end about the painter- he's used that before, hasn't he? Not to disparage it at all. I think it was used at CPAC or one of the state GOP dinners, but my point is it feels very much like he's getting into the groove of things, almost as if it's his cap on the end of a speech. But again, I think a distinction to make if/when people ask what makes Paul presidential is that he's out there teaching the folks and reaching to them for inclusion. Where as Rubio is simply touted as the favorite because he's seen as a draw for minorities.

Yet he still draws in money, despite his immigration vote...

Sen. Marco Rubio has lost standing among conservative activists for his lead role in immigration reform but continues to collect millions in campaign dollars, emerging as one of the most prolific fundraisers in the country and underscoring his national ambitions.

Highlighting what does not make him presidential is key here. Being a token does and should not do it, even if the American public are more interested in creating political and societal 'firsts.'

I came online just-in-time to catch the last part of his speech. I'm glad to see he is adding NDAA along with Mandatory Minimum Sentences. Let's get list going, then if he isn't the nominee come 2015, we have a good start on the list for a new DOI :D

And, yes, Mr.NoSmile, it seems like he's getting his "message" together, adding to it a bit at a time.

He's probably on a horse and carriage being driven up to the Grand Hotel. I know some state committee folks that are there. Initially, I planned on going but thought it was wiser to save my loot and donate it to a few candidates. MI will be in play down the line and I'm sure I'll have the privilege to meet him then.
