Rand Paul Road Tea Party Farvor To Washington Then Yielded

I refuse to believe that Rand has really compromised anything. He is playing a game in an attempt to win the White House. I will never believe that he has really compromised until the day that I see him in the White House pushing this stuff that goes against what he supported in the beginning. He is trying to stealth his way in there. He watched his father try his hardest to win two elections by staying pure and was never able to win. Rand is trying a different approach but his goals are still the same. One day I may be proven wrong and Rand may really be a sell out, but until that day that I am proven wrong with my own eyes by a President Paul, I won't believe it.

That is exactly what's happening and the people who don't see that are actually insulting Ron as well as Rand. I'm disgusted by the amount of people who supported Ron but don't support Rand in the slightest (perhaps not many people on this forum, but elsewhere i've seen it). That's an insult to Ron to think that Rand, growing up along Ron and hearing his speeches all his life didn't inherit the same ideologies and morality.

I agree 100%

I'm not anywhere near as enthusiastic about Rand as I was about Ron. I think that the feeling is held by many Ron supporters. He is however, the very best by quite a margin running for President this time around.

Whether he's able to use his name recognition and out do his father is yet to be seen but there certainly feels like there is less passion for the son

There is less passion, but the passion for Ron running again would probably be even less. I wouldn't even be here is Ron was running again.

Problem is he "stealthed" himself from the frying pan and in to the fryer. The proper "stealth" campaign would have been to mask his libertarianism behind a veneer of Tea Party Conservatism (which is what he did to fantastic success in his 2010 Senate Campaign). This time round though, he's stealthed himself way so far to the "mainstream" that most GOP voters view him as a liberal or "RINO", which is an even less popular position among GOP voters than libertarianism.

If that were to actually happen, and President Paul sold us out, that would be like a final death nail in the Liberty oriented Tea Party. The "I told you so's" would be on the front page of every newspaper and headline of every major blog. It would not be good. I would be forever scarred and horrified.

"Rand Paul had already left the premises."

To me, compromises or endorsements really aren't the questions anymore to be focused on. The question now whether Rand has the kind of political style and temperment and more importantly, will to be President. There's a lot about politics he doesn't like which I think can hurt him, especially in the first four states where retail politics is very important.

I refuse to believe that Ron would continue to support Rand under any circumstances if he thought for one moment that Rand was yielding or being disingenuous. He may have changed his tact, and he is learning to survive in a politically shark infested cesspool of Kentucky Republican politics, but he has truly changed the conversation NATIONWIDE about the Tea Party and small government Liberty policies.
I would remind this writer (Ted Cruz hack, perhaps?) of true frauds like Rubio and Jeff Flake.
And Rand paved the way himself for a Tea Party Governor in a pretty blue state and Thomas Massie.
