Rand Paul returns $500,000 in office budget to Treasury

I like the spirit of the idea but if it doesn't go towards reducing this year's deficit it doesn't seem to me that it would make any difference. Is that $500,000 now in the federal government's hand to do with however it wants? If not, does anyone know for sure what will happen to it?

Put up or shut up, Warren Buffett. Match the annual returns of Rand Paul (and Ron Paul) like you've promised you would.

Warren's promise

Warren Buffett is a small-minded dickface. He is worth FOUR THOUSAND times as much as Sen McConnel, so naturally, this is his tough talk:

The CEO of investment firm Berkshire Hathaway, who is worth $39 billion according to Forbes, has long advocated for the rich to contribute a larger share of the country’s tax revenue. He wrote an op-ed in the New York Times in August 2011 regarding tax policy such as advocating for higher taxes on capital gains.

That month, President Obama proposed a plan to reduce the deficit with spending cuts and tax increases on millionaires, dubbed the Buffett Rule.

Sen. John Thune (R-S.D.) then introduced the “Buffett Rule Act” in October, an option on tax forms allowing the wealthy to donate more in taxes to reduce the deficit.

Buffett told Time for this week’s cover story that he will match Republicans’ voluntary contributions.

“And I’ll even go three for one for McConnell,” Buffett said.

McConnell is reportedly worth at least $10 million, Time reports.

McConnell will have a comfortable retirement. Warren Buffett could buy his own country and fuck it up good instead of giving twisted advice here.

Edit: Note they never propose a tax that would seriously affect themselves or only apply to billionaires.

Political move
EVERYTHING the government is politics.

And Ron does this too.

Now just imagine if all 100 Senators did this. That would be $50, million. Then imagine if every House member did a similar 10% too.

Now just imagine every department of the government slashing their budget by 10%. The govt would be in much better condition.

Political move
I certainly don't see the problem with a "political move" that consists in doing something good- and since I certainly think Rand really does support financial responsibility, I don't think it's a "political move" of the sort that is disingenuous or does not reflect the politician's real beliefs.
