Rand Paul on The Mandy Connell Show 2/20/13

Mandy finds Rand "refreshing." There are a lot of Americans who are going to find Rand Paul refreshing.

Not sure about what she meant when she said "would you like to see Rand Paul serve a full term in the Senate before running for President?" Ummm...2016 - 2010 = 6 years = full Senate term. Maybe she meant that campaigning simultaneously with his Senator duties is perhaps a conflict of interest. But that would be silly because many if not most campaigning candidates are contemporaneously employed in government.

so did anybody end up going to bearno's to talk to mandy and solidify her support? this whole Rubio is a conservative theme is getting tiring.

Why did Rand say that abortion should be entirely a state and local issue when in the past he's said that he supports a Human Life Amendment and a personhood law defining life as beginning at conception?

Interesting, he was at that rally for life just a few weeks ago. Maybe he thinks every state should pass one? Seeing as more than a fourth of the states are extremely liberal, that might be the smartest route.

"I will always vote for any and all legislation that would end abortion or lead us in the direction of ending abortion. I support a Human Life Amendment and have co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act as federal solutions to the abortion issue. In addition, I support a Sanctity of Life Amendment, establishing the principle that life begins at conception. This legislation would define life at conception in law, as a scientific statement."

I just thought his answer to that question was extremely weak. He didn't even mention that he's pro life, and he was on a conservative talk show talking to a conservative audience. If Rand comes across as being liberal on social issues he'll have no chance to win the GOP nomination in 2016. I want to be able to defeat the neocons, and that isn't going to happen if the social conservatives don't even trust Rand.
