Rand Paul on The Glenn Beck Radio Program 9/16 (audio added)

We've seen Beck come around on a lot of issues - we thought we had him when he started attacking the Federal Reserve.. but then he ends up supporting Romney/McCain and totally screws us over when it's most important.

I hope he actually 'comes around' some day but I'm not going to hold my breath or place any wagers.

Wasn't he under the thumb of Fox News in those days though?

The reason why I'm asking these questions is that his viewership, in large, is absolutely enamored with Trump. Yet he takes every possible opportunity to bash Trump. All I'm saying is that he should be given the benefit of the doubt until/unless he proves otherwise.

Do you have any basis for that?
Ah, I see what the problem is. You joined here just this past August.

Yes, there is plenty of basis for this. erowe1 is doing a more than adequate job of answering you, but if you search for "Glenn Beck" among the topics, you'll see for yourself his bait and switch tactics ... pretending to be a libertarian one day, throwing us under the bus the next. What you're seeing right now is part of a pattern we've seen many, many times.

Have you watched his show recently? He is not the same person as he was a couple years ago. Like at all.

 Really?? We're gonna fall for THAT again?? Beck does this EVERY SINGLE ELECTION CYCLE... he's all pro-liberty and pseudo libertarian... until he twists the freakin knife of hypocrisy in your back and pisses on everything you hold dear while embracing the almighty power of big government to do what HE thinks is right. I know Beck has 'evolved' some over the years, but this falls squarely into the 'fool me once' category.

Yes, but after Trump has been defeated, he will turn his very large viewership against Rand. He will find a reason for this....I don't know what it is right now, but it will happen.

There is a Beck narrative here. Totally nonsensical of course, but it is here.

After being wrong about Beck over and over again, year after year, what makes you think that this time you'll be right?

Calm down, man, I'm just asking questions. I hardly see how my having joined in August is relevant.

To anyone: has this "bait and switch" occurred since the Fox News Glenn Beck?

I believe Fox news hired him in the first place, because he kept talking about how someone needs to be like Ron Paul, without actually being Ron Paul. I believe it's in the same video where he calls Ron Paul supporters, violent, terrorists, crazy, etc., when he still worked for CNN (HLN?). After the '08 election was over, Beck's Fox show started, and he tried to sound like Ron Paul covering all his issues and even inviting Ron and his like-minded friends on his show. That's when he, FOX and the GOP worked to co-opt the "tea party", an idea they stole directly from Paul supporters, along with all the same imagery we had used.

"Ron Paul supporters are tapping into something very real…"

Actually I am always right about Beck. He is what he is. He is never going to be a full blown Ron Paul libertarian, but he is a pretty good pro-constitution, anti-progressive liberty leaning conservative.

Very interesting... Thank you for your response.

There is no conspiracy here. He isn't planning on stabbing Paul in back if he gets more popular. The truth is that Beck just can't make up his mind on a lot of things. He goes back and forth, back and forth, back and forth all the time.

What you're describing perfectly fits his M.O. of protecting the establishment from its most strongest attackers.

Yeah, the Rick Santorum type of liberty leaning conservative that you love so much right.
