You may have read the accompanying article already but here is the full cover photo you may not have seen.

Major Threat is a kind of a punk rock reference in case you were not aware. Minor Threat was a popular punk rock band from the early 80's.

Dayum, now I'm going to have to break my own self-imposed boycott of the NYT and buy the (grossly overpriced) Sunday edition. That cover photo alone is worth the price of admission and could be a collector's item someday.

He's catchin' on, I'm tellin' ya

they did a good job on the cover, the anarchy A might have been over doing it but the rest is dead up like a club flier. I think the most authentic part is the "All ages" part in the bottom left corner.

Where can I buy one of these?

I'm old enough to remember Minor Threat, all ages shows and the DIY band fliers.

They interviewed Kennedy from for the article, which kind of fit their theme.

It's kind of strange to see themes from my youth all grown up and on the cover of the NYT.

There was a club in my town a little less than a decade ago that did all ages shows and had cheap looking fliers like this.
I loved that place.

Awesome, I love it. I think the Minor Threat reference is great. I would say Rand Paul is Straight Edge.:)

yep, Rand is definitely not straight edge.

Paul continually had cameras on him, not only from journalists but from Democratic trackers hoping to catch him making a gaffe. The video that got the most buzz was of Paul leaving his table in the middle of dinner with King, seemingly to avoid a confrontation with an activist who immigrated illegally from Mexico at age 11. Observers viewing the viral video on the Internet noted he grabbed his beer as he left.

Yeah, I'm just trying to figure out why they chose to go with the Minor Threat reference. Maybe I'm just trying to read too much into it because I think Ian MacKaye's a neat guy. I dunno, because they're both hardcore? It's buggin' me, there's just got to be a reason.
:)
Ian MacKaye left, Henry Rollins (Black Flag) right

I really doubt he did drugs, what makes you think so?

He's definitely smoked weed before. And given his thought-process, his nuanced approach to politics, and his ability out-maneuver opponents by being four or five steps ahead of them, it wouldn't surprise me if he's used hallucinogens in the past as well.

LOL

Smoking weed seems to be a prerequisite now for becoming President, so Rand has that covered

Drove 30 miles round trip into town from my rural location to buy today's Sunday NYT with that incredible magazine cover. Got the last copy left at the news stand. Like I said earlier, I think it will be a collector's item some day.

Mark my words, this is only a harbinger of very great things to come. Rand's getting early traction in the Presidential race this far out that his Dad and we in the Liberty Grassroots could only dream about. All of us here on this forum should be proud because we all played some role in this coming about.
