Rand Paul meets with Nigel Farage

The only difference today is that nice clothing is much more form fitting to svelte body types. The era of the 4XL is over, or should be over. If I dressed the Liberty Movement women would be busting down the doors to enter :D

Yeah, I never understood wearing things that were 4 times too big. You should update yer profile to say fashion designer. :)

I still say that other getup is gey looking though. Of course, opinions and styles do vary so whatever. Is what it is.

The only people that would call that style ghey are fatties.

Nah. Speaking only for myself, I can't even pinch a quarter inch at the moment. I suppose that it's just a difference in the ages. But I'l lsay this much, everyone is always shoving shmoke up our reaqr ends about how great it is to be an 80's conservative but we never really place that into perspective with basic lifestyle and well being. It's interesting. Sometimes it annoys me when people bash the 80's and the people who were a product of them. They have no idea what they missed and it was a time that can never ever be again. And it's OK, I suppose. Can't blame them. For some reason everyone always thinks of a bunch of people running around wearing parachute pants and whatnot. That was a completely different group that came out of that era.

Anyhoo...getting back to the gripes about junior's pants, I think he's probably one of the few that I've seen who actually dresses the part of someone who actually lived as an 80's conservative. It's so much more than political being, I think. For me, I can kind of gather what kind of person I'm getting ready to meet is and what kind of vibe I'll get from discussion with them just by looking at them. Usually I'm right. But sometimes I'm wrong.

ok, last bit of fashion advice from me: never ever wear a suit coat with jeans. even if you're in Vermont. lame look.

Well. We should decipher the difference between a suit jacket and a nice relaxed fit sport jacket. They're different.

But, yes, stay away from a traditional "suit" jacket with jeans.

ok, it's just me, but I think a blazer or suit coat w/jeans is pathetic. it screams "i'm not getting dirty, i'm staying pretty."

swap the blazer for a "F#ck the Fed" or a "Declare Peace" or a "Legalize it" t-shirt (or an Obafemi Martins jersey) and you've got a better look

The man is a Senator. That would never fly. That being said, Congress needs a makeover...in more ways than one.

As much as i'm enjoying this thread's concentration on Rand's outfit :p as a British person I don't buy Farage as a true libertarian. I was a member of his party for a short period and it became clearer as time went on that Farage just makes up policy on the hip and will happily propose socially conservative policies if it suits him. (Dropped the flat tax policy, anti equal marriage, wanted to ban the burqa a few years ago).

He isn't really a libertarian (whether this is due to him just not being as well knowledgeable with libertarian philosophy, or because he just doesn't agree, idk). But I don't think it matters much in his case, because he has been vocal as hell in kicking the ball in the right direction. And plus, most libertarian "policies" are so common sensical that most people would agree to them, or already do, without really knowing the philosophical foundations of them, so it's all good, in my opinion.

Edit: I'm talking about Farage, not Rand.

Yeah that's England for ya. He has to appeal to conservatives just like Rand does in the US with some of his stuff. Libertarianism isn't winning shit in politics. They only stand to make a few gains for libertarians that could easily be erased. Politics is a losing game. I only support it for propaganda reasons and changing the minds of useful idiots.
