Finally finished watching the entire thing. Very vanilla. Rand is really playing it safe these days. He has become a seasoned politician. He wasn't going to touch any of the more controversial topics that Brand was throwing out there. Avoided all of the third rails.

He was very focused on pushing the standard Cato/Koch/Reason free trade points, and "all is well because you have a cheap flat screen TV" type of argument. Kind of straw-manning a bit about shutting down all trade being a Trump position (which I agree would be bad, but I haven't seen anybody propose that). And also correct about the fact that tariffs should originate in the House (Congress), not with the supreme leader.

Rand seems to be very much a 1980s libertarian, and no doubt he had the best teacher in his own home growing up. But he doesn't seem to be rolling much with the changes that have occurred since then. I'd dare say that Ron is a bit more modern and up to date at this point. (Of course Ron is free to say his mind at all times, while Rand currently has political considerations).
