Rand Paul: ‘Disaster’ Trump Turning GOP Into ‘The Old White Man’s Party’

The GOP has two Latinos and an African-American running for President. How is that not appealing?

+rep.

Only goes to show there is no winning the "diversity" scam if you are on the "right" side of the spectrum.

Theye will just keep moving the goalposts until you give up, die off or go away.

Which is, of course, the point.

Like waves crashing against the rocks.

This is the new face of the coming GOP scam. Nothing wrong with minorities but these 3 are establishment agents. Rubio, Haley and Scott. Yuk!

Rand is not thinking deeply about this. I'm a little bit ashamed when he makes these remarks. The slate of Republican candidates could not be more racially diverse, and yet he comes up with comments like this? Really? Up until after New Hampshire, there was also a woman in the race. I do not know how people can look at television and come away thinking Republicans are all old white guys. Trump is the oldest Republican still in the race, and he is five years younger than Sanders and not quite a year older than Hillary. Do the math. Sanders: Sept 1941, Trump: June 1946, Hillary: Oct 1947.

If he is going to talk about Trump, talk about the issues. Don't try to make it about who's not cool enough.

You are ashamed of Rand's outreach to minorities?? When the other candidates condemn him for wanting to "let criminals run free on the streets"? The Republicans don't have the numbers, and can't win with the same losing strategies as before.

Yeah, I agree.

Rand wasn't attacking the GOP he was attacking Trump. Trump has bashed Mexicans and Muslims. He hasn't bashed Blacks yet but it's obvious his appeal is with the racist white base (and don't even try to deny it, Ron had a similar appeal). Doesn't mean Trump is racist or anything just the reality of things.

Rand appealing to minorities wasn't the best strategy to win the Republican nomination but it would have helped in a general. Unfortunately for Rand this was the wrong year to go that route.

All this pandering to minorities really bugs me. Either they like our principles or they don't. If they don't, screw them.

Being interviewed on MSNBC and saying that the GOP is becoming the party of old white men is all but an recommendation for young people to vote Democrat. In fact, I think Rand's campaign would have been more suited for the Democratic party.

Rand running to the left of Rachel Maddow by making such comments was the reason he had no chance this cycle and had to drop out of the race.

I am still in disbelief the Rand of today is the same guy from only a year ago. He is the poster child of self-sabotage. The question is was he acting on his own or acting on bad advice.

Bad advice, and bad strategy. If Rand had become a threat to win it, do you know how he would have been attacked?

If you know how he was going to be attacked, you can see the positions he took and why. He was trying to create a firewall against those attacks, but ended up burning himself and putting the grassroots movement out.
Not that I thought his positions and strategy made sense, and I didn't see any proof his positions were helping the cause.

He thought he could play the game and win. Vermin Supreme's campaign lasted longer than Rand's.
VERMIN SUPREME, 2016!

its a brilliant strategy from Rand. Get everybody thinking this way or that, then, when you finally have real clout by fooling all the NEOCON sheep, you turn a 180.....boom boom, out go the lights......

I have been stunned by how many black, some young black people, that I know personally, that support Trump.

not only will you be supporting Trump someday, you will actually be buying a Trump bobblehead within the year, as per executive order.

This is what bothered me as well with Rands campaign... his pandering to minorities was not necessary. How much of the black vote did he get in Iowa? Or.. I should ask, how many non-white votes did he get from Iowa?

His strategy of pandering to black/minorities AND young adults didnt work.

It didn't work that he claimed to be speak for blacks when he's polling at 20% with blacks. Which is a good number.

It didn't work that he claimed he was speaking for the GOP base when he was leading a 20 person field with 20%.

All those jobs in Kentucky get done by working class blacks and whites not illegal immigrant Dreamers with free-market superpowers.

Actually the GOP is becoming the party of all white people as a direct result of the Democrats being the party of all people who specifically are not white (unless they're gay, someone who gets fucked in the ass is their ideal white guy).

That's white flight if I ever saw it. White people have figured out that the ideologues in the Democratic party want them dead.

If "Trump Democrats" doesn't roll off the tongue in a pleasing way, we can always say "Zombie Reagan Democrats".

Trump IS Zombie Reagan. It all makes sense now.
