Rand Paul Digital: Apps/MicroSites for Next-Gen Grassroots

Pledged. I wasn't here for all the things you did for Ron's campaign, but it looks like something I would really like to see happen. Happy to support and I wish you all the best in these efforts!

For those that haven't seen previous mentions of this, or had a chance to watch the longer promo video while it was being put together, here is some additional info regarding importance of early states and swing voters/Independents. Ron Paul got 2,289 votes in the Dems primary in NH 2012. Now those votes wouldn't have won him the state that year instead of coming in second, since Romney got near 40% being from a neighboring state. However if it was closer for example in Iowa where the difference of winning or coming in second was near 3k, could be the difference between winning and coming in second.

Encouraging everybody here to get behind this project - I think the team behind has the right mix of grassroots enthusiasm and professional skill to make a game-changing impact. This project isn't drawing money away from the main campaign - their previous moneybomb efforts for Ron Paul (with help from others here on the forums) raised over 3 million for the official campaign.

Even if you can't make a large pledge, you can still "vote" on the project by giving as little as 2$. - When other prospective supporters enter the kickstarter page, they will be more likely to support the project if it has many backers. Also, spread awareness on these forums by promoting it in your signature! (I think I'm too new here to get a signature yet ;))

This is only real activist thread on this forum currently:

Here is an update:

We haven't sent emails out yet, announcing the project to tens of thousands will be happening next week. There is also a number of already made commitments to pledge, will be following up with those as well next week which will increase the numbers.

In the meantime wanted to get your opinion on something.

Here are a few rewards we were thinking of adding to the kickstarter page for those backers that pledge. These would all be "limited" meaning for example the first reward listed here would be only available to the first 10 backers for that specific level.
  • - FreeMeTV Director's Chair: You choose the order for content programming of the video stream for a week
  • - FreeMeTV Content Scout: You choose 5 videos to be added to video stream programming lineup (must be supportive of Rand Paul and/or appropriate entertainment value, with approval of the digital team)
  • - Creative Director for the Day: Describe to our designer three original avatar ideas that he should create for a Moneybomb promotion (with advice of digital team for appropriateness, etc.)

Let us know what you think about these or perhaps some others we can add?

Edit: Also considering adding bumper stickers.

The contributor levels seem to me a bit too grouped together -- 6 separate levels at $150 or less and then just 1 level at $3500. Can't really change it I suppose but it looked odd. But if you are thinking of adding even more levels in between with those ideas then I guess it could balance out.

Anyway, any reason why you are waiting to send those emails? It is really going to need a significant boost to reach that minimum pledge amount.

Yes we can't change existing rewards, but can add new ones. For those that would have qualified for a new reward we'll handle those off the site if Kickstarter doesn't apply the pledges to the new rewards. Going to see about adding them tonight.

Regarding the email delay it was a mix of wanting to send them out on a Monday or Tuesday (As opposed to a weekend), we were delayed last week and the timing wasn't right. Also to be honest, I'd been overwhelmed with the amount of different things that needs to be done in a short span of time, so getting the finalized email copy took time as well.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on these, also thanks for posting a comment on the KS page! :)

Quick Update. And a preview of some work we were doing over the weekend.

Let me know what you guys think of this video? Need some feedback before we start sharing it all over, unfortunately we won't have time for edits (have too much to do, need to keep moving forward) so looking for either a thumbs up or thumbs down. Thanks.

Good video! Can't wait to see the response from the mass mails.

There are 808 users who have logged in this month on RPF, yet there are still only 27 backers. If all 808 gave an average of $32, the project would be fully funded. Can you spare 30 bucks for liberty?

Do you have a bitcoin address I can just directly send too?

Don't think there is a way to connect bitcoin to Kickstarter since it's a pledge based system, although could be wrong. We didn't want to collect money directly through paypal or other ways outside of the Kickstarter model, as this way it's less risk for the backers and those making the commitment to deliver, with this all-or-nothing approach.

Just in case anyone is not familiar with crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter, crowdfunding is when you pool contributions from various people to support a project in exchange for ensuring the project has the resources necessary to complete the work proposed and for various rewards to backers of the project. Kickstarter is the most widely used crowdfunding website—on Kickstarter, if the funding goal isn't reached within a certain time frame, no one is charged a cent, the project does not get kickstarted and no rewards are distributed.
