Did anyone catch the "Super Tuesday Preview" hour-long focus group with Frank Luntz on Faux early today? It will be re-running at 10ET, if I'm not mistaken.
It was interesting.
There was a segment with 4 reps from congress with each one representing one of the 4 presidential candidates. Rand Paul represented Ron.
Frank asked the group if they thought that Ron Paul was the most Anti-Washington of the 4. Most of them said yes. Then, he asked the group what was holding them back from leaning Paul's way. Of course, most of them took issue with his foreign policy. Luntz then gave Rand a chance to defend his father's foreign policy views, which he did well. Then, he got into a bit of an argument on the issue of Iran with the gentleman/senator to his side who was representing Gingrich. He asked Rand, "What about Ron's comment about letting Iran have a nuclear weapon?" Rand tried to give a rebuttal but the gentleman initially wouldn't let Rand respond in a manner that was completely childish and annoying. Eventually, Rand got in his rebuttal, and noted a few high-ranking officials who have been discouraging an attack on Iran. Kelly Ayotte, representing Romney, interrupted towards the end of Rand's rebuttal and said that the world will be no more if Iran was to get a nuclear weapon.
Also, Rand did awesome in a segment in which he chided Gingrich and said, "Gingrich simply voted for the Tarp bailouts and sat with pelosi advocating global warming solutions...so that is a non starter. This is why the Tea Party was originally founded." It was good stuff.
Luntz also showed a part of the Three of a Kind ad. He, as well as the focus group, thought it was one of the best ads.
I still think we need a powerful foreign policy ad!
