Rand laughs at Candy Crowley when she tells him to join the Dems

Yea but at least with Ron there was reason to do so because he did run as a third party candidate in the past. If he never ran as a Libertarian I don't know if he would have been asked as much as he was, but who knows.

And they kept asking and he kept refuting them. This isn't just some media sensation, it's a thing they keep repeating and pumping into people's heads via association over years and years. They started now because they want people to associate Rand Paul with "3rd party" or "not Republican" enough to make a difference by the year 2016. Believe you me, they're going to keep doing it. It's not just a one-off thing, and it's not a stunt. It's a war tactic.

If you'll notice, also, they didn't actually ask him about being third party precisely because he's never been part of a third party, but they will keep pushing this shtick about not being Republican.

Ron didn't really explicitly say he wouldn't do it, he just said he had no plans to. I always got the impression that he was leaving it open on purpose so that the RNC wouldn't completely ignore him.

Ron Paul ran on the Libertarian ticket in 1988. Rand Paul is Ron's son.

That's not an association you are going to be able to escape, especially when the establishment is doing everything in it's power to discredit your credibility to the masses.

He's going to continue to be bombarded with these types of questions, just like his father.

Good, his response was so perfect. And because of that; I think you are wrong.

edit: his response was perfect: because he gave existing republicans a reason to be proud to be republican and he gave non republicans a better image of what he thinks it means to be republican.

I think the recent questioning isn't really limited to Rand though. I think it's more so the media wanting to push the Establishment/Tea Party split in the GOP, hoping that maybe there does end up being a split in parties (which the Dems are desperately hoping for).

And he explained clearly the reasons he said it that way. Still, even some people on here didn't get it. How dense are people?

Sounds like party politics to me, something I don't think is really important to the establishment, Rep or Dem, because they all bat for the same team in the end.

They should have asked Mitt that question a few times last year.

a Democrat no, but I could see a scenario where Rand runs 3rd party (if the Republicans nominate Christie)
