After this latest ABC poll, Rand is now tied with Christie and Kasich. I'm sure they'll put Rand in 10th place though.

Trump 32
Carson 22
Rubio 10
Bush 7
Cruz 6
Fiorina 5
Huckabee 3
Christie 3
Paul 2
Kasich 2
Santorum 0
Graham 1
Pataki 1
Jindal 0

So weird. ABC had him at 5% before when other polls had him at 2%, and now that Rand appears to be gaining momentum, they have him at 2%.

Maybe they will put him in 8th since he is #8 in the RPC average. That should be the tie breaker since it's made up of the most recent polls.

Christie should just drop out...

He probably would have long ago, except that Rand took him down in the first debate. Now they seem determined to prop him up until doomsday just to prevent us from saying Rand knocked him out of the race.

This is make-or-break... he has to make headlines in this debate. He has to channel Ron.

Not really. The thing that Rand is avoiding is having a Howard Dean moment. He's increasing his favorables and saying non-controversial things.

Don't expect any serious fireworks until Trump is out of the running.

Agreed. Surges do not happen until the favorability numbers show that people are ready to listen. The recent good news about his favorability numbers is something of a pre-surge. In my inexpert opinion, he is on the right track. A big play right now could easily backfire.

I think the strategy should be to simply separate ourselves from the pack. Rand has recently started hitting the GOP for wanting a no-fly zone extremely hard. I expect more of that on debate night. Rand will also hit the GOP on wanting to stay in Afghanistan just like Hillary. I do want him to be a little more fiery in his responses, however, it is more important to separate himself.

If he even MAKES the debate! I thought 2.5% was the benchmark... we have a week left and they could just squeeze him out unless he makes some positive ground like NOW!

We are in.. The deadline for polls is today..

Agreed. And the only candidate that seems to be like Dean in 2004 is Trump. Dean was blowing everybody out in almost every state and nationwide and then all of a sudden he and Dick Gephardt started to run negative ads at about this time in Iowa. Dean had an establishment problem and the negative ads in Iowa worked but only for John Kerry, who became the eventual Democratic nominee. I remember this because I remember following Dean's campaign and was a strong supporter of his at the time. :o

Not really. If he can do what he did the last debate, he will be fine. Someone is going to screw up badly in this debate, hope for someone with a last name that starts with 'C', Rand will benefit.
