Rand Endorses Pat Roberts? (FAIL)

I wouldn't disregard the actual value of the message in the commercial itself. This is more of a Rand commercial than a Roberts commercial. It serves a dual purpose of advertising for Rand, and gaining some future political capital within the GOP.

There's no good reason for you to base your vote on an endorsement. Just accept that the Republican party is a shitty mafia. Ron Paul endorsed candidates that were just as bad as Roberts.

But do keep in mind the assholes on this board that bash the Libertarian party while voting for people like Roberts.

And Rand Paul endorses this guy? This seems like a disastrous strategy. I don't see how this helps Rand's 2016 ambitions in Kansas at all.

Then you should be mad at Ron for also endorsing people that are less than principled... he admits it in his own words that even he couldn't get out of refusing to endorse people he didn't want to....

The moral of the story? Endorsements in almost all cases mean nothing and should be ignored because yes even Ron Paul has endorsed big-government people.

Totally agree with this! I don't know anyone that wouldn't support this idea. It's common sense! Yet, I bet relatively few people are aware that such an amendment was ever put forward, much less voted down by the vast majority.

I assume he only endorsed him in the general election against a Democrat. Right?

If so, then what's the issue?

An independent that miraculously appears on the surface to be worse than a Democrat. At least you can predict how a Democrat will vote, but this guys says straight up he'll just vote along with whatever party is in control.

I saw a clip of the ad RandPAC is running. It mostly says Pat Roberts is a good guy because "he voted for Rand Paul's plan to cut foreign aid to America's enemies." This ad buy is promoting Rand just as much as Roberts.

If Rand is president then it will be greatly in his favor to have a republican majority in the house and senate. So this in mind, it is a very legitimate strategy to endorse the republican in most races regardless of whether or not they are as pure as Rand is, because the goal is to reverse the trend of liberal control over the process of politics.

So yes I know I'd rather have Greg Brannon over Thom Tillis, but Id much rather have Tillis over Kay Hagan. The ships turning, not as fast as Id like but its important to keep it turning in one direction.

If Cruz doesn't run (or drops out), I think that is a very real possibility...

Cruz is without a doubt running. I personally feel Ted Cruz isn't on Team Rand. Ted Cruz is essentially a career politician; he wants upward movement. I don't see him winning the nomination at all, maybe he will probably drift towards Romney or Bush (or someone who he perceives as winning) and hoping for a VP slot. I have serious doubts that he would resign his last 2 years as a senator for VP though.

Isn't Cruz affiliated with a Bush PAC?

Cruz is a stalking horse for Jeb Bush. He is there to take votes Rand otherwise would get.

The race is between Jeb & Rand. Everything else is bullshit trying to obfuscate that.

Race is close. This whole plan will backfire if Roberts loses.

How exactly would it backfire? So, he might piss off the GOP voters who did not support Roberts in the primary AND did not vote for Roberts in the general. What a huge voting bloc that is I'm sure...
