Rachel Maddow slams Obama!

You know, I popped into this thread and made one smart ass remark, not even having watched the clip, because, quite frankly, I've had it up to my eyeballs with the nonsense. Both the political and pundit classes spew so much bullshit, that piles up so fast, you need wings to stay above it.

But now, having taken the time to watch it and reflect some, well, well done to Maddow for at least trying to point out the insanity here.

"We must create a new legal regime" to imprison people indefinitely.

Wow, just wow...

Sometimes Rachel Maddow truly commands respect. :)

This is one of those times. :D

It is amazing to hear in his "simultaneous" speech how Oblahma both defends and shreds the Constitution. An empty suit "just words".

This is his modus operandi. Say things that are totally contraditory in the same speech. He does this all the time. No one boos or calls him out for his total contradictory pronouncements.

This is why he is so dangerous, because people hear only the part they wish to hear and discount or tune out the rest. Therefore, he always wins because he has pleased both/all sides. He is truly a spinmeister and snake-oil salesman.
How much longer until the rest of the country catches on to his "speaking with forked-tongue"?

A comment from the HP article:

For What It's Worth:
I know this is going to sound like it's out of left field but please try to follow me on this.
President Obama has put forth this totally ludicrous proposition knowing full well that it would never, but never pass constitutional muster. This then becomes (God, I hate the cliche') a teaching moment; i.e. The Constitution is the Supreme Law of the land and that for all his perceived power, the President must follow the law, just like we common folk.
It's a long walk to get a point across, but making such a proposal highlights the lunacy of letting the President ride roughshod over the most incredible human rights document since the Magna Carta.

Thank you.

He's just teaching us all a lesson, folks. Don't worry. He's showing us the way, knowing we must experience these things before we can understand them. A real savior.

I just cant get my head to believe all this is going on during my live. The regime is indeed changing, and its not nice.

I’m starting to see Maddow overtake Olbermann. Their two shows used to be virtual carbon copies of each other, but I don’t think Olbermann even mentioned Obama’s prolonged detention. While both still regularly slam secession, Olbermann’s criticism of Obama is usually lighter and less frequent than Maddow’s. Since her show is right after his, she is really helping expose his partisanism.

I wonder how Olbermann’s omission jives with one of his favorite guest-commentators Jonathan Turley. I think Turley is spot-on most of the time and I’m sure he’s up in arms about Obama’s announcement of prolonged detention.

Very good post... It appears that Propaganda takes precedence over fiscal responsibility. Even the lefty liberals, who's motto is: "Question Authority" are realizing the sham, scams, and lies of THEIR LIBERAL government.

Oh the hypocrisy is magnitudes greater each year by the FEDS.

Truth is TREASON in an EMPIRE of LIES!

PS: Kieth 'UberHaterMann' Olbermann is a by gone. Olbermann's manipulative and Hateful lies are worst than ever. Both he and Rush should be sent out to pasture with a gag orders, to fade away. Sick of the megamouths both ultra left and right. If Maddow keeps with a subjective center point, she will survive. I personally think she moving torwards libertarianism... freedoms and liberties are paramont. wouldn't you say Raquel? It's government that turns half of AMericans against the other half.

Amazing doublespeak isnt it?

He runs up a 1.8 trillion dollar deficit, then holds a "fiscal responsibility" summit.

He slams CEO's for taking trips to Vegas, then takes about 20 Air Force One trips to such essential functions as the Jay Leno show and Valentine's day dinner in Chicago (not to mention the $300,000 "photo op" over the statue of Liberty.

He tells us to put air in our tires to fight "global warming", while expending tons of diesel fuel on his Air Force 1 joy rides.

He slams Bush over violating the Bill of Rights, and then proposes to extend those violations indefinitely.

Wow! I almost miss Bush now!

Obama showing his colors so soon?

Though I haven't much watched her, I'm starting to like Rachel.

Yea, my first reply to the article got flagged and the moderator wouldn't post it so I went back and wrote a totally snarky one to that particular 'Teaching Moment' douchenozzle. Naturally, it didn't get posted either. Seems that some HuffPo mods don't like it when their posters don't suck down the Kool-Aid. Having learned the hard way, I save my responses to a Notepad beforehand.

First reply:

Preventive Dentention. Where have I heard of that before. Oh right, CONCENTRATION CAMPS. Like those first models built by the British to house Boers in South Africa. I don't care if his Presidency is 'historic'. I care about him shredding our Constitution.

I love how the Obamabots are out in force defending something that is blatantly a violation of civil liberties. You people are sick. You've sucked down the Kool-Aid by the gallon and have so much Cognitive Dissonance its surprising you can even do anything without Obama telling you so. Get this through your heads, saying we must use 'Preventive Detention to save our freedoms' is Orwellian Doublespeak. If Obama came out tomorrow and literally said 'War is Peace, Freedom of Slavery', I could probably come to this website and see a headline about it and comments praising him for his clear approach to 'saving us'. You people are Fascists and I for one am sick to my stomach to know that any of you even live in this country.

Second reply, specifically to Mr. Teaching Moment:

Circle-jerk logic like yours could only have come from an education in the Public School System. Give me a break. Teaching moment? That kind of asinine thought process is what many Germans used to delude themselves that Herr Hitler was doing what he did to save The Fatherland from Communists and Anarchists. Obama, in true Orwellian fashion, gave a speech so laden with Doublespeak, it wouldn't have surprised me if he proclaimed 'War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery'.

Hope you enjoy your time in the gulag reflecting on Obama's 'teaching moment'.

Rachel Maddow has done a lot to redeem and endear herself to libertarians and Constitutionalists over the last few weeks...If she doesn't watch out, her show will be canceled!:D

Not bad at all. Maybe Maddow is slowly reevaluating her positions.

hopefully from scissor to missionary...

(am I the only one to go there? i figured the "i would hit that" comment crowd would be all over that by now)

thanks annihilia!

Rachel is actually easy on the eyes, eventhough I'm more of a long haired woman fan myself. Even 'confirmed lesbians' aren't always exclusively homosexual but more bisexual.
