If I'm not supposed to believe Biden (and Fauci, Walenksy, Maddow, et al.) when it comes to "with the jabs, he won't catch COVID", then why the hell am I supposed to believe him (or them - or you) when it comes to "without the jabs, he could be dead" (aside from the obvious fact that "he could be dead" is a counterfactual that would always pertain in any case)?

Of course it is - so go tell it to Biden, Walensky, Maddow, et al. (At least Fauci, unlike those others, seems to have been cunning enough to have sufficiently hedged his statements in order to avoid suggesting the jabs were perfectly efficacious - although he still disingenuously oversold and vastly exaggerated their efficacy.)

This latest strain of Covid bypasses all older immunity (and vaccines), unless you have recently had a closely related version of Omicron.

The original version hardly effected me, but the latest version is pretty nasty. And it has lasted twice as long...

Well you shouldn't if you disbelieve all the data from hospitals and governmental agencies showing that the vaccine is helpful in preventing serious illness and death (at least with respect to the older variants).

I brought him up to show that all Presidents lie, some more than others. The same can be said of 99.99% of politicians.

Look, Biden is at an age that carries increased risks regarding Covid, so I don't think it's unreasonable for him to have taken the vaccine, nor is it surprising that he got infected or, since he took paxlovid, that he tested positive again. But to use Biden's example to suggest that the vaccine has no benefit is disingenuous.

Yeah, it's pretty silly to use this sample size of 1 analysis to show anything, but people on both sides constantly do it to the point where the actual two sides seem like "stupid/disingenuous" versus "pays attention to empirical evidence".

What should've been "big government shouldn't have the right to force vaccines on people" has also morphed into complete denial of the efficacy of the vaccines to the point of hilariously tragic mental gymnastics.

One of the things libertarians always got over Blue Team and Red Team folks was that "just because something works, the government shouldn't have a right to force it", and "just because something is bad, the government shouldn't have a right to ban it". But it's pretty astonishing the amount of Red Team stuff even in libertarian circles nowadays, from those who can't even seem to get the difference between pro-liberty policy and objective reality.

I have a feeling that anyone sick with a cold or flu of any strain will test positive for covid.

IIRC, the tests were tested against other colds and flus to make sure there would not be false positives.

Regardless, symptomatically, Covid is more similar to a flu than a cold. Colds always have major sinus and nasal congestion, and no fever. Covid has very little congestion, but does tend to have fatigue and fever like a flu.

Sure it's legit. But notice what it actually says. It does not say coronavirus=common cold, like the comment on the right claims.

It merely says that the common cold is an example of a condition cause by a coronavirus.

But everybody already knew that and it's never been a controversial claim. And it has nothing to do with the fact that the virus that causes COVID-19 is also a coronavirus, even though COVID-19 is not the common cold. So what's the point?

The point is that communists took a common virus and modified it in a lab to increase the damage and function. This modified virus was likely unleashed on purpose in my opinion.
