The Trump administration announced plans Tuesday to freeze tens of millions of dollars in family-planning grants to the nation’s biggest abortion company.

The move would halt approximately $20 million in federal funding to Planned Parenthood affiliates, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal.

Pro-life advocates hailed the decision as a significant step toward redirecting taxpayer dollars away from abortion centers and toward life-affirming alternatives.

Because letting taxpayers have it back is clearly not an option, according to either side.

Trump doesn't have the power to just send money back to the people, but he has proposed to send some of it back if he can get congress to agree to the DOGE dividend, naturally people here attacked him as socialist for suggesting that.

Right, government "bribing" the citizens is totally not socialist.

It's weird. I see a lot about the post you quoted to disagree with. I don't consider getting a tax overpayment back as a bribe. And I don't see any preconditions on this one, except Trump's usual precondition -- pay tax.

I also don't see why you have to stretch the thing so hard to find something about it to whine about. Just desperate to use your buzzword "socialist"?

Good to know you believe that.

Putting your words in other people's mouths is still a forum violation.

More will come.

You mean this is only a portion of the Federal funding for PP? Why can't he stop it all with one stroke?
I don't know if it is only a portion of the PP funding, you complained about the amount and I said much more is coming.
If there is more PP funding I'm sure he'll cut it too, he can't do everything at once and sometimes he has to make sure he can justify it to keep the courts from blocking him as easily or to avoid fighting with Congress before he's ready to have the impoundment fight.

He doesn't know if there is more, but he promises more.

He's like a ponzi scheme salesman.
I promised more cuts, I didn't say from where.
I made that clear in my reply, but you just can't stop lying.
We are getting a steady stream of cuts and DOGE is hard at work finding more.

I did not complain about the amount, I merely stated it, in light of the banter between yourself and tulsa.

and I made sure to come back and correct my typing for tulsa. old laptop keys are in bad shape.

I think honestly this is a net loss. Planned Parenthood is I believe the largest abortion provider and the largest birth control provider. I'm against abortion but for birth control. But in purely monetary terms, I'm sure Planned Parenthood saves the taxpayer 100xs more in welfare costs of unwanted pregnancy by providing birth control than is saved by simply defending it. Unfortunately the abortions save taxpayer dollars as well.

Glad to see this happen.

But Trump is definitely opposed to this.

He has been a lifelong supporter of abortion.

"I support a woman’s right to choose, but I am uncomfortable with the procedures. When Tim Russert asked me on Meet the Press if I would ban partial-birth abortion, my pro-choice instincts led me to say no.

After the show, I consulted two doctors I respect and, upon learning more about this procedure, I have concluded that I would support a ban."

Trump has changed, and become more religious.
He has implemented many pro-life policies in both terms.
